Host Steven Crowder, who has panic attacks himself, said he could recognize this happen in real time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook- I had an anxiety attack; I had a PTSD episode on the stand,\u201d Rittenhouse said, responding to critics\u2019 claims that his emotion on the stand was \u201cfake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what I said when it happened,\u201d Crowder told the teen. \u201cI\u2019ve had panic attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rittenhouse revealed that he had panic attacks for the first time in his life when he went to jail, awaiting trial. Diagnosed with PTSD, the 18-year-old has had more since then \u2014 including one on the stand \u2014 but has been able to lessen the severity of the attacks by working with his therapist and developing strategies like \u201ctactical breathing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crowder underscored the difference between \u201csocial anxiety\u201d and panic attacks, noting that the latter includes \u201ca physiological response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The host said that when he watched Rittenhouse break down on the stand, he recognized that he was indeed having a panic attack, noting that he knew critics would \u201csay that he\u2019s faking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very upsetting, because \u2014 I don\u2019t care what people say, I\u2019ve long lived past that \u2014 but I\u2019m like, it took everything I had to fight back, because I didn\u2019t wanna cry on national TV,\u201d Rittenhouse told Crowder.<\/p>\n<p>During the same interview, Crowder made it a point to tell Rittenhouse, who is just 18, to not feel any obligation to do any or all media requests. \u201cYou don\u2019t owe anyone anything,\u201d he told the teen.<\/p>\n<p>The host also told Rittenhouse not to feel any \u201cguilt\u201d about defending himself and emphasized that he doesn\u2019t believe Rittenhouse shouldn\u2019t have been in Kenosha that night, contrary to popular political option.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Rittenhouse has stressed that he doesn\u2019t believe he should be \u201ccelebrated\u201d as a \u201chero,\u201d since, at the end of the day, two lives were lost.
