(Rafael Yaghobzadeh\/AP Photo)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 7:23 AM PT \u2013 Thursday, December 9, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The center-right in France could storm to victory against incumbent President Emmanuel Macron. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/live-news\/20211207-france-s-new-right-wing-presidential-nominee-surges-in-polls\">According to recent polls<\/a>, the newly chosen leader of the Republicans Party, Valerie Pecresse, is pulling ahead of Macron in a potential second round of voting. This is the first time Macron has been shown losing the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Pecresse was an outsider candidate and was given the nomination after emerging from obscurity to perform well at intraparty debates. Now in polling, she has taken over the second spot, which was presumed to be the domain of far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Goodness. And now this. An Elabe poll just out suggests that Val\u00e9rie P\u00e9cresse could beat Macron in the second round: 52% to 48%<\/p>\n<p>Early days, and a lot still to play for. Emmanuel Macron has one sole obsession: to please. I have only one passion: to act.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The French presidential election will take place over two rounds in April.
