That\u2019s an increase of 13% from 2020, a year that nearly broke the 1990 record.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In addition to 12 cities with record homicide levels, Chicago homicides this year have been high with a reported 739 murders in the city. The Daily Wire\u2019s Tim Meads <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chicagos-cook-county-on-track-for-most-homicides-in-decades\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> last week:<\/p>\n<p><em>In 2021, Cook County, Illinois has had more than 1,000 homicides \u2014 including 777 in Chicago \u2014 according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2021\/11\/30\/cook-county-1000-homicides\/\">CBS Chicago<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The staggering figure is the highest number of murders recorded for the county since 1994, which recorded 1,141 homicides that year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>According to the local media, \u201cthe Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s office said, as of Tuesday, the county\u2019s homicide total stands at 1,009, with more than a month still to go in 2021. Of those, 927 were gun-related homicides.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As to the victims\u2019 demographics in Cook County CBS2 reported that, \u201cthe vast majority of homicide victims have been Black, with 81% of the victims identified as African American. Latinos accounted for about 15% of the county\u2019s homicide victims,\u201d according to the Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Chicago\u2019s rising murder rate in 2021 comes on top of a nationwide increase in homicides in 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/criminal-justice\/564845-next-victims-of-rising-crime-democrats-in-2022-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> noted the problem of rising crime in major cities for Democrats as far back as July. \u201cAll of those places are run by Democratic mayors; so are the bigger cities where crime has surged,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>The report also noted, \u201cAdd to that, that it\u2019s the left wing of the Democratic Party that wants to \u2018defund\u2019 the police, that it\u2019s progressive Democrats who came up with the idea to \u2018reimagine policing,\u2019 and none of this bodes well for Democrats next year. Voters don\u2019t like politicians who are soft on crime \u2014 and hard on cops.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colorado Republican Rep.
