An astonishing 1.7 million illegal crossings at the southern border have been recorded this year,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/10\/22\/us\/politics\/border-crossings-immigration-record-high.html\" rel>the highest total since at least 1960<\/a>, when the government first started keeping such records. In response, the administration has scrambled to deploy whatever tools it has at its disposal, including some left over from the Trump administration, to stem the tide \u2026<\/p>\n<p>These and other pressures, as well as the desire not to give in to Fox News talking points about a border crisis, has led most Democratic politicians to treat the topic of border security\u2014and even the phrase\u2014very gingerly. As a result, there is no clear Democratic plan for an immigration system that would both permit reasonable levels of legal immigration&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;provide the border security necessary to stem illegal immigration.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Amusingly, Teixeira also downplays the political impact of the federal government\u2019s migration policy \u2014 even though it is likely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/12\/08\/watch-migration-expert-describes-mass-deaths-on-joe-bidens-trail-of-tears\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killing thousands<\/a> of \u201cLatinx\u201d migrants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>He describes it only as a \u201csociocultural issue\u201d \u2014 as if legal and illegal immigration is not an elite economic policy that shifts trillions of dollars in Americans\u2019 wages, including American Latinos\u2019 wages, towards wealthy coastal investors who donated to the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.6945812807882\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">President Trump is leaving office, but the 74,000,000+ million Americans who voted for his America First agenda will march on. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3QTMDlToeb\">https:\/\/t.co\/3QTMDlToeb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1351932358757396487?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Many Democrats prefer to view their self-serving easy-migration preferences as noble social policy, even though their business allies recognize it as a massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/09\/18\/white-house-amnesty-cuts-wages-but-not-for-the-longer-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">subsidy for investors<\/a>&nbsp;concentrated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/13\/zuckerbergs-data-says-amnesty-gives-economic-windfall-coastal-democratic-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coastal cities<\/a>. For example, <em>New York Times<\/em> writer Tom Edsall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/12\/08\/opinion\/trump-democrats-republicans.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">argued<\/a> December 8:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>If, as&nbsp;much evidence shows,&nbsp;working-class defections&nbsp;from the Democratic Party are driven more by&nbsp;cultural, racial and gender issues&nbsp;than by economics \u2026 should the Democratic Party do what it can to minimize those sociocultural points of dispute, or should the party stand firm on policies promoted by its progressive wing?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In reality, the federal government\u2019s wealth-shifting policy of extraction migration causes so much economic distortion that it is pushing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/immigration-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">millions of Latino voters<\/a> towards the GOP, as Breitbart News has repeatedly shown.<\/p>\n<p>On December 8, the <em>Wall Street Journa<\/em>l&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/hispanic-voters-now-evenly-split-between-parties-wsj-poll-finds-11638972769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"23.586129753915\">\n<p>Hispanic voters were also evenly divided when asked about a hypothetical rematch in 2024 of&nbsp;<a class=\"icon none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/election-2020-results-trump-biden-11604371156?mod=article_inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the last presidential contenders<\/a>, with 44% saying they would back President Biden and 43% supporting former President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/topics\/person\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>. In 2020, Mr. Biden<a class=\"icon none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/election-day-2020-what-voters-are-saying-as-they-head-to-the-polls-11604406023?mod=article_inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;won 63% support among Hispanic voters<\/a>, nearly 30 points more than Mr. Trump, according to AP VoteCast, a large survey of the presidential electorate.<\/p>\n[\u2026]\n<p>Hispanic voters in the survey ranked economic issues as the priority for Mr. Biden and Congress to address. Hispanic men said Republicans had the better economic policy, by a margin of 17 points. Hispanic women, by contrast, said Democrats had better economic plans, by a 10-point margin.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of Hispanic men said they would like to return to the policies that Mr. Trump pursued as president, while a majority of Hispanic women said they would rather stick with Mr. Biden\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But status-conscious progressives <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/survey-elite-imposed-migration-is-transforming-national-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">are determined<\/a> to ignore the economic harm of migration \u2014 and to ignore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/12\/08\/watch-migration-expert-describes-mass-deaths-on-joe-bidens-trail-of-tears\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the mass killing of migrants<\/a> by their enthusiastic support for policies that sneak many migrants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/04\/democrats-lets-curb-inflation-using-migrants-cut-american-wages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">into the U.S. economy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Much of the Democrats\u2019 current problem emerged from Teixeira\u2019s influential 2002 book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/prospect.org\/power\/emerging-democratic-majority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Emerging Democratic Majority<\/a>.\u201d The book predicted that the Democrats could build a stable majority based on Hispanic immigrants, women, and younger progressives.<\/p>\n<p>But his book did not recognize the ruthless class and economic agenda of his college-educated progressive peers. Those progressives cited Teixeira\u2019s book as they subsequently joined with GOP-leaning business groups to push the self-serving economic combination of free trade and cheap migrant labor that has devastated blue-collar Americans and almost every state without a coastline.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.4214876033058\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump&#8217;s historic Israel policies will endure <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sdZ6srZxE6\">https:\/\/t.co\/sdZ6srZxE6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1352114329882132483?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 21, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To be sure, Teixeria always favored policies that would help ordinary wage earners. In 2000, for example, he published \u201cAmerica\u2019s Forgotten Majority: Why the White Working Class Still Matters\u201d and \u201cThe Myth of the Coming Labor Shortage: Jobs, Skills, and Incomes of America\u2019s Workforce 2000.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. government\u2019s post-1986, bipartisan economic policy of extraction migration&nbsp;is&nbsp;deeply <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/immigration-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unpopular<\/a> because it damages ordinary Americans\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/03\/12\/bloomberg-opts-h1bs-take-two-three-new-tech-jobs-each-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">career<\/a>&nbsp;opportunities, cuts their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/04\/08\/elite-academics-hide-amnesty-wage-pain-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wages<\/a>, and raises their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/16\/new-yorks-mayoral-rivals-vow-cheap-housing-plus-more-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">housing costs.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The invited migration also curbs Americans\u2019&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/07\/11\/president-trump-wins-big-on-secret-meatpacking-robots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">productivity<\/a>, shrinks their political&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com+%22john+binder%22+%22demographic+change%22&amp;rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS946US946&amp;oq=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com+%22john+binder%22+%22demographic+change%22&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.10228j0j4&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">clout<\/a>, widens&nbsp;regional wealth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/13\/zuckerbergs-data-says-amnesty-gives-economic-windfall-coastal-democratic-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gaps<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/survey-elite-imposed-migration-is-transforming-national-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">radicalizes<\/a>&nbsp;their democratic, compromise-promoting civic&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/search\/?s=%22white+supremacy%22#gsc.tab=0&amp;gsc.q=%22white%20supremacy%22&amp;gsc.page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">culture<\/a>, and allows the elites to ignore&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Diseases_of_despair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">despairing Americans<\/a>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JorgeAl49986803\/status\/1439791277571145737?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">bottom of society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/03\/30\/harvard-harris-poll-5-in-6-americans-want-to-end-immigration-from-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wide<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/01\/14\/poll-americans-want-companies-hire-americans-before-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">variety<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/04\/13\/ipsos-poll-nearly-8-in-10-americans-want-immigration-moratorium-for-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pollsters<\/a>&nbsp;have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/08\/05\/poll-swing-voters-hugely-oppose-2020-democrats-promising-more-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shown<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2020\/04\/24\/poll-trumps-opponents-applaud-his-jobs-for-americans-immigration-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deep<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2017\/01\/31\/poll-shows-public-support-trump-migration-poicy\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">temporary<\/a>&nbsp;contract workers&nbsp;into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.<\/p>\n<p>This&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/03\/05\/survey-americans-underestimate-quiet-public-opposition-to-legal-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">class-based<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/02\/22\/poll-democrat-sex-split-visa-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bipartisan<\/a>,&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USTechWorkers\/status\/1377363222005575680?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rational<\/a>,&nbsp;<a
