Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Jon Tester (D-MT) sided with Republicans to repeal the mandate under the&nbsp;\u201cCongressional Review Act,\u201d which would allow Congress to review executive orders. Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), who sponsored the bill, said the Biden policy had \u201cMain Street scared.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s got Main Street America scared,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/senate-votes-repeal-biden-federal-vaccine-mandate-businesses\">Braun said<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019re worried about, well, what does this mean on other issues? Anybody who thinks this is a good idea, imagine the next time it happens when you\u2019re on the wrong side on whatever the merits of the case would be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week,&nbsp;Jon Tester, who hails from a state that heavily favored President Trump, indicated that he will vote along with Republicans to nullify Biden\u2019s mandate,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not crazy about mandates,\u201d&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/584771-second-senate-democrat-to-back-vote-against-biden-vaccine-mandate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Tester told&nbsp;<\/a>NBC News on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV)&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/584771-second-senate-democrat-to-back-vote-against-biden-vaccine-mandate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;last week that he does \u201cnot support any government vaccine mandate on private businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not support any government vaccine mandate on private businesses. That\u2019s why I have cosponsored and will strongly support a bill to overturn the federal government vaccine mandate for private businesses,\u201d Manchin&nbsp;said.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the vote, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) compared Republican opposition to vaccine mandates with flat-earthers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the anti-vaxxers here in this chamber remind me of what happened 400 years ago when people were clinging to the fact that the sun revolved around the Earth. They just didn\u2019t believe science. Or 500 years ago when they were sure the Earth was flat,\u201d Schumer said.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration suffered yet another legal blow on Tuesday when a federal judge issued an injunction striking down the vaccine mandate for federal contractors,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/07\/federal-judge-blocks-biden-administrations-vaccine-mandate-for-federal-contractors\/\">arguing<\/a>&nbsp;that the plaintiffs are \u201clikely [to]&nbsp;succeed in their claim that the President exceeded the authorization given to him by Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Senate repeal on Wednesday, the bill will likely die in the House, where Democrats control a thin majority. However, moderate Democrats have increasingly expressed skepticism about vaccine mandates in recent days.&nbsp;Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), for instance, expressed concern that vaccine mandates like the one proposed by Biden could lead to a dearth of government employees at the state level.<\/p>\n<p>Whitmer told&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailynews.cc\/articles\/what-is-on-your-radar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Daily News in Greenville:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>We\u2019re an employer too, the state of Michigan is. I know if that mandate happens, we\u2019re going to lose state employees. That\u2019s why I haven\u2019t proposed a mandate at the state level. Some states have. We have not. We\u2019re waiting to see what happens in court.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Judge Stan Baker wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n<p>The Court acknowledges the tragic toll that the COVID-19 pandemic has wrought throughout the nation and the globe.
