The image has been fabricated.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>One iteration of the purported screen grab of the DW article about Germans kissing in protest of COVID-19 vaccines has garnered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=5295045767176882&amp;set=a.274866302528212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over 500 reactions<\/a> since being shared on Facebook Dec. 3. The sub-headline in the alleged article reads, \u201cLawmakers consider law to criminalize kissing in public spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 3, a group of people carrying torches protested against COVID-19 mitigation measures outside the house of Saxony Health Minister Petra Koepping, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/live-news\/20211207-on-the-web-and-on-the-streets-covid-protests-get-nasty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AFP<\/a> reported. Over the course of the pandemic, there have been numerous protests against the German government\u2019s COVID-19 policies.<\/p>\n<p>However, Check Your Fact found no evidence DW published the article in the Facebook post. A keyword search yielded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/search\/?languageCode=en&amp;item=kissing%20protest%20germany&amp;searchNavigationId=9097&amp;sort=DATE&amp;resultsCounter=10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">zero matches<\/a> for a story reporting on such a vaccine-related protest occurring in Germany. It also cannot be found on DW\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/24369314439\/search\/?q=kissing%20protest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verified Facebook<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=kissing%20protest%20(from%3Adwnews)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDW never published an article with this headline,\u201d Joscha Weber, DW\u2019s head of fact-checking, confirmed in an email, also directing Check Your Fact to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/de\/faktencheck-keine-k%C3%BCssenden-impfgegner\/a-60056313\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> the outlet published debunking the image. \u201cIt\u2019s completely made up.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/12\/03\/fact-check-vox-article-bunny-ear-laces-racist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Vox Publish This Article Calling The \u2018Bunny Ear\u2019 Shoe-Tying Method Racist?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The image of couples kissings that\u2019s featured in the fabricated screen grab does not show a German protest against COVID-19 vaccines, either. A reverse image search traced the picture back to the <a href=\"https:\/\/webgate.epa.eu\/webgate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Pressphoto Agency website<\/a>, where the caption reads, \u201cCouples take part in the World Kiss Marathon for Education at a square in Santiago, Chile, on 1 September 2011.
