Overall, federal emissions will be cut 65% by 2030 and 100% by 2050 under the order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s executive action is a part of the President\u2019s broader commitment to increasing investments in America\u2019s manufacturing industries and workers to build back our country better,\u201d the White House said in an announcement. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/29\/pete-buttigieg-electric-vehicles-cost-gasoline-prices-americans\/\">(RELATED: Buttigieg Says Americans Should Buy Electric Cars So They \u2018Never Have To Worry About Gas Prices Again\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy transforming how the federal government builds, buys, and manages its assets and operations, the federal government will support the growth of America\u2019s clean energy and clean technology industries, while accelerating America\u2019s progress toward achieving a carbon pollution-free electricity sector by 2035,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s order also directs the federal government to build a \u201csustainability-focused\u201d labor force, advance \u201cenvironmental justice\u201d and prioritize the purchase of products with fewer harmful toxins like perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl.<\/p>\n<p>The order affects the government\u2019s entire portfolio of 300,000 buildings, 600,000 cars and trucks and annual purchasing power of $650 billion in goods and services, the White House said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7334022\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"35\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7334022\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Joe Biden tours the General Motors Factory ZERO in Detroit, Michigan, on Nov. 17. Michael Bennet <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorBennet\/status\/1468678718994460682\">tweeted<\/a> following the order. \u201cIt\u2019s time for the federal government to lead by example as we work to transition to a clean energy economy, achieve net-zero emissions, and rise to the moment in our fight against climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House highlighted some of the actions federal agencies have already taken in preparation for the transition to clean energy in the announcement, including the U.S. Park Police\u2019s transition to electric vehicles and the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s planned field testing of electric Ford Mustangs for patrol use. In 2022, the Department of Defense will complete a massive solar project in California, adding 520 megawatts of energy to the grid and the nation\u2019s largest 100% clean energy microgrid with an industrial battery system in Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>However, the executive order failed to shed light on how the U.S. military, which is among the world\u2019s leading sources of carbon emissions, as a whole would transition to renewable energy. The military emitted roughly 1.2 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases between 2001-2017, the equivalent of 257 million passenger cars, <a href=\"https:\/\/watson.brown.edu\/costsofwar\/files\/cow\/imce\/papers\/2019\/Summary_Pentagon%20Fuel%20Use%2C%20Climate%20Change%2C%20and%20the%20Costs%20of%20War%20%281%29.pdf\">according<\/a> to Brown University\u2019s Costs of War project. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/06\/renewable-energy-joe-biden-offshore-wind-power\/\">(RELATED: Renewable Energy Experts Cast Doubt On Biden\u2019s Wind Power Plans)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s latest attack on American energy workers is outrageous and disgraceful,\u201d Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member John Barrasso said in a statement. \u201cWith this action, he\u2019s telling millions of Americans who provide most of the energy we use every day that he thinks they should be thrown out of work.
