We will not be contributing to the fanfare of the Games,\u201d Psaki added.<\/p>\n<p>Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-australia-to-join-the-united-states-in-not-sending-officials-to-beijing-olympics-report-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> on Tuesday that Australia would join the U.S. in imposing a diplomatic boycott on the games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We are] very happy to talk to the Chinese government about these issues and there\u2019s been no obstacle to that occurring on our side, but the Chinese government has consistently not accepted those opportunities for us to meet about these issues,\u201d Morrison&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/politics\/federal\/scott-morrison-confirms-australia-s-diplomatic-boycott-of-beijing-olympics-20211208-p59frw.html\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it is not surprising, therefore, that Australian government officials would not be going to China for those games. Australian athletes will, though. Australia\u2019s a great sporting nation and I very much separate the issues of sport and these other political issues. They\u2019re issues between two governments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-59582137\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> earlier on Wednesday that, \u201cBritish Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the UK will diplomatically boycott the Beijing Winter Olympics, due to be held in February 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report noted Johnson\u2019s announcement was made \u201cduring Wednesday\u2019s Prime Minister\u2019s Questions, after former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith called for a \u2018diplomatic boycott\u2019 of the major sporting event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tom-cotton-rips-biden-no-plan-to-protect-our-athletes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that not all lawmakers are satisfied with the diplomatic boycott.<\/p>\n<p><em>Arkansas Republican Sen.
