(AP Photo\/Seth Wenig)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAll healthcare workers, including hospital workers and staffers at long-term care facilities, will be forced to get vaccinated by September 27, with limited exceptions,\u201d Breitbart News reported.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kaleida Health said it intended to stay open and offer access to services, noting the organization was adding resources and posting positions to continue working with the community:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>Given the reduction in workforce, the subsequent reduction in staffed beds, the significant rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations across our facilities, and the spike in COVID-19 cases in our region, Kaleida Health is proactively postponing non-essential elective inpatient surgeries at Buffalo General Medical Center and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>New York faced a possible crisis as the vaccine mandate deadline threatened to result in a shortage of thousands of hospital workers who declined to take the shot, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/25\/new-york-faces-state-of-emergency-as-vaccine-mandate-creates-hospital-staff-shortages\/\">reported<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is creating an unprecedented crisis for us,\u201d Tom Quatroche, who is the Erie County Medical Center Corporation\u2019s president, said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we need more time to comply, and I\u2019ve asked for that. For all the right reasons, the vaccine mandate was put in place.
