Prosecutors allege the defendants \u201care self-identified to be affiliated with Anti-fascists or Antifa,\u201d according to a criminal complaint, and began organizing themselves \u2014 with one group originating in San Diego and the other in Los Angeles \u2014 a week before the pro-Trump rally.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.75\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">DA charges San Diego, Los Angeles &#8216;Antifa&#8217; groups with violently countering P.B. &#8216;Patriot March&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VZRw2NhCwx\">https:\/\/t.co\/VZRw2NhCwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zpkme3sPhl\">pic.twitter.com\/zpkme3sPhl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 San Diego Union-Tribune (@sdut) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sdut\/status\/1468085131512467457?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 7, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It is thought to be one of the first cases to use conspiracy charges, in this instance conspiracy to commit riot, to focus on alleged members of Antifa, the article stated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>A criminal complaint said the defendants charged started the criminal conspiracy \u201cby liking and sharing\u201d a January 2 social media post.<\/p>\n<p>The post reportedly called for a counterprotest on the pro-Trump event, \u201cin essence agreeing to take part in the \u2018direct action.\u2019 Others agreed by showing up in Pacific Beach on January 9th, 2021 and participating in the violence\u201d noted in the complaint, prosecutors asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The individuals were accused of using pepper spray, small flag poles, sticks, and additional items to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/01\/09\/watch-armed-antifa-attack-trump-supporters-cops-in-san-diego\/\">attack<\/a>&nbsp;event participants on January 9 in the street and boardwalk located near Crystal Pier.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7044534412955\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/breaking?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#breaking<\/a> trump supporters clash with BLM and antifa on the boardwalk in PB.
