That\u2019s my recommendation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk also told the WSJ that his colleagues at Tesla don\u2019t care or think about the bill. He also noted that the federal deficit continues to rise and would be negatively impacted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crfb.org\/blogs\/build-back-better-cost-would-double-extensions\">$2.1 trillion<\/a> budget, which the House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/it-took-a-magic-minute-but-the-house-gifts-joe-biden-huge-win\">passed<\/a> but which awaits Senate approval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, it might be better if the bill doesn\u2019t pass because we\u2019ve spent so much money,\u201d Musk said. \u201cThe federal budget deficit is insane.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/13\/democrats-green-energy-electric-vehicle-union-workers-tax-credit\/\">(RELATED: Democrats Push For Green Energy Tax Credit Benefiting Union Workers In Budget)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bill is projected to increase the federal deficit by $274 billion over the next 10 years and decrease gross domestic product 0.2% by 2050, <a href=\"https:\/\/budgetmodel.wharton.upenn.edu\/issues\/2021\/11\/15\/hr-5376-build-back-better-budget-macro\">according<\/a> to an estimate from the Penn Wharton Budget Model.<\/p>\n<p>The Build Back Better Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/5376\/text\">includes<\/a> an up to $12,500 tax credit for purchases of electric vehicles made with union labor using American batteries. (Nic Antaya\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tesla cars, though, account for nearly 80% of the total new U.S. electric vehicle sales, CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/26\/americans-are-buying-teslas-not-evs-heres-why-thats-about-to-change.html\">reported<\/a>. Still, the leading electric vehicle maker has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/08\/05\/fact-sheet-president-biden-announces-steps-to-drive-american-leadership-forward-on-clean-cars-and-trucks\/\">largely ignored<\/a> by the White House which has primarily focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ford.com\/content\/fordmedia\/fna\/us\/en\/multimedia\/album\/2021\/president-biden-visits-fords-rouge-electric-vehicle-center.html\">boosting<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/general-motors\/2021\/11\/18\/behind-the-scenes-president-biden-gm-factory-zero\/8659285002\/\">companies<\/a> that have a unionized workforce.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Musk also criticized a provision in the recently-enacted bipartisan infrastructure bill that expands the domestic electric vehicle charging network, according to the WSJ. The legislation allocates $7.5 billion for building new charging ports nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo we need support for gas stations? We don\u2019t,\u201d Musk told the WSJ. \u201cSo, there\u2019s no need for support for a charging network. I would delete it.
