Report produced by a network of social scientists estimated billionaires over the past 12 months collectively own 3.5 percent of global household wealth, up from slightly above two percent at the class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe COVID crisis has exacerbated inequalities between the very wealthy and the rest of the population,\u201d lead author Lucas Chancel said, noting rich economies used massive fiscal support to mitigate the sharp rises in poverty seen elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time the rich got richer, the pandemic pushed about 100 million people into extreme poverty, raising Forbes\u2019 annual world\u2019s billionaires list this year included a record-breaking 2,755 billionaires with a combined worth of $13.1 trillion, up from $8 trillion last year.<\/p>\n<div
