Tom Cotton (R-AR) took aim at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio over his recently announced&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/06\/new-york-city-mandate-coronavirus-vaccine-all-private-sector-employees\/\">vaccine mandate<\/a> that would apply to private-sector workers effective December 27.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cotton, de Blasio\u2019s \u201cCOVID theatrics\u201d are a \u201ccounterproductive overreach.\u201d He argued the Democratic governors and mayors imposing such mandates are deterring people from getting vaccinated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is a counterproductive overreach by Bill de Blasio,\u201d Cotton proclaimed. \u201cHe, like a lot of other Democratic mayors and governors, seems to be engaged in COVID theatrics to see who can have the most radical proposals. Again, there\u2019s lots of people who haven\u2019t been vaccinated who have sound reasons to not be vaccinated. Either \u2026 they\u2019ve had the coronavirus before, so their antibodies are at least as strong if not stronger, or perhaps they are allergic to some of the ingredients in these vaccines.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThese kind of one size fits all mandate hammers simply do not work,\u201d he added. \u201cThey probably deter some people from getting vaccines just because of outrage over the overreach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After pointing out the inefficacy of the vaccines in preventing the spread of the virus, Cotton asked, \u201cWhy would we be going to such great lengths to threaten people\u2019s livelihoods for these mandates if the persons who are unvaccinated are really only posing a greater risk to their own health and the worst outcomes for themselves?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Follow Trent Baker&nbsp;on Twitter&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/MagnifiTrent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">@MagnifiTrent<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During a Monday interview on Fox News Radio\u2019s \u201cThe Brian Kilmeade Show,\u201d Sen.
