Here\u2019s proof,\u201d posted online Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The AI program calculated that these undisclosed news sources gave President Biden more negative coverage from mid-July through late October than President Trump experienced during the same period last year, based on its weighted algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>The results may say more about the limitations, or bias, of the algorithm and its programmers than about the legacy media\u2019s reporting. NBC, ABC, and CBS nightly news broadcasts regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/study-heres-just-how-insanely-biased-news-james-barrett\">gave<\/a> President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/rich-noyes\/2020\/01\/13\/tvs-trump-news-three-fourths-impeachment-and-93-negative\">more than 90% negative<\/a> coverage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/rich-noyes\/2019\/01\/15\/networks-trashed-trump-90-negative-spin-2018-did-it-matter\">throughout<\/a> his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/rich-noyes\/2021\/04\/19\/study-once-top-trump-bashers-tv-news-now-loves-joe-biden\">presidency<\/a>, according to an analysis (conducted by human beings) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.org\/\">Media Research Center<\/a>. During last June and July, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/rich-noyes\/2020\/08\/17\/study-150-times-more-negative-news-trump-biden\">95%<\/a> of legacy media networks\u2019 statements about President Trump were negative, while 67% of their statements about candidate Joe Biden were positive.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, Milbank speculated that the media, \u201cpressured by Trump\u2019s complaints about the press, pulled punches\u201d in its coverage of President Trump during the months of civil unrest throughout the country and the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand during his first 60 days in office, President Biden received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/study-media-gives-biden-less-negative-coverage-than-any-president-on-record\">less negative coverage<\/a> than any president on record, dating back to President Bill Clinton, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journalism.org\/2021\/04\/28\/at-100-day-mark-coverage-of-biden-has-been-slightly-more-negative-than-positive-varied-greatly-by-outlet-type\/\">analysis<\/a> from the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Milbank described the media\u2019s coverage of Biden\u2019s first months in office \u201cslightly positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true that the media criticized the Biden administration\u2019s execution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-medias-10-most-brutal-criticisms-of-bidens-afghanistan-debacle\">U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan<\/a>, which left an unknown number of Americans stranded under Taliban rule. Yet the media soon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/5-times-the-legacy-media-defended-bidens-afghanistan-debacle\">defended his foreign policy actions<\/a>, with MSNBC\u2019s Lawrence O\u2019Donnell opining that at least Biden\u2019s abandonment of Kabul was not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-administration-this-is-not-saigon-cnn-its-worse-than-saigon\">as bad as the fall of Saigon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The study also ignores that much of the cable news networks\u2019 critiques came from the Left, repeating progressives\u2019 allegations that the president had been too harsh toward illegal immigrants and that he compromised too readily with congressional Republicans and centrist Democrats on the eye-watering cost of his \u201cBuild Back Better\u201d bill.<\/p>\n<p>Milbank wrote that the media criticism of the sitting president threatened the survival of a free society. \u201cThe findings \u2026 confirmed my fear: My colleagues in the media are serving as accessories to the murder of democracy,\u201d wrote Milbank.<\/p>\n<p>America is experiencing \u201can existential struggle between self-governance and an authoritarian alternative.
