A poll from House Democrats\u2019 campaign arm earlier this month showed the president down in battleground districts across the country, with 52 percent of voters disapproving of the job he\u2019s doing, according to three party members briefed on the data.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With the election 11 months away \u2014 \u201can eternity in politics\u201d \u2014 Democrats are in full strategizing mode to counteract what&nbsp;Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) called Biden\u2019s recent \u201cscary\u201d numbers and to preserve at least a slim Democrat majority halfway into Biden\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in a difficult period now. One of the challenges we have is, we\u2019ve been legislating this year, as he has,\u201d Sen. Bob Casey(D-PA) told the publication. \u201cWhile you\u2019re legislating, you\u2019re not communicating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Politico<\/em> pointed to the midterms during former President Donald Trump\u2019s time in the White House when the GOP lost the House majority but kept the Senate, saying Democrats \u201cmay face a similar dynamic next year.\u201d However, a \u201cfavorable Senate map\u201d may not be enough in 2022, according to the report, which cited a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/analysis-joe-bidens-net-approvals-tank-in-battleground-states\/\">poll<\/a> from Morning Consult showing Biden under water in battleground states like Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Nevada, and Arizona. The report states:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>Democrats acknowledge they have a big problem. Their proposed antidote: Finish the battles over legislating as quickly as possible, then spend their next few months talking up their infrastructure and coronavirus relief laws, as well as their forthcoming social spending bill.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said it could be the first time his party has ever been \u201cdisciplined on message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut theoretically we could finish a historic year of legislating for the middle class in the next month and spend all of our next year talking about what we did,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Other Democrats worry the Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/19\/house-passes-behemoth-build-back-better-act\/\">$1.7 trillion Build Back Better Act<\/a>&nbsp;will not be enough to boost them in the polls. House Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal (D-MA) advised his party to focus on \u201cseizing credit,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe messaging challenge is pretty apparent. When you look at the individual parts of what we\u2019ve done, they\u2019re all not just marginally popular, but they\u2019re wildly popular with the American electorate,\u201d Neal said.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) said Republicans are at a political advantage because of Biden\u2019s \u201cperfect storm of bad issues\u201d \u2014<em> Politico&nbsp;<\/em>specifically cited Biden\u2019s \u201ctumultuous\u201d withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Virginia governor\u2019s race, and pandemic politics as being \u201ctricky for the party in power.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAt the moment we\u2019ve got a great shot of taking the majority in the Senate,\u201d Tillis said.<\/p>\n<p>White House aides reportedly think Biden\u2019s dismal ratings are tied to the recent rise in coronavirus cases and believe his approval rating will go up when cases fade \u2014 though they acknowledge Americans are frustrated that the pandemic is going into its second winter despite Biden\u2019s campaign promise to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/28\/flashback-ten-times-joe-biden-promised-shut-down-virus\/\">\u201cshut down the virus.\u201d<\/a> The arrival of the Omicron variant \u201cfurther complicated Biden\u2019s possible resurgence,\u201d but Democrats could possibly blame Republicans for \u201copposition to coronavirus relief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWest Wing aides also believe that underscoring Republicans\u2019 opposition to coronavirus relief and the social spending bill will pay off,\u201d according to the report.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>White House spokesperson Andrew Bates argued that while the president is contending with the pandemic and inflation, \u201cRepublicans in Congress act to help Covid spread, worsen the global problem of inflation and raise taxes on the middle class to protect tax giveaways to the wealthy.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But <em>Politico<\/em> noted that many battleground Democrats \u201cprivately say they are highly skeptical of that positive spin\u201d and are focusing on their own numbers and tactics ahead of the midterms.&nbsp;<b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to see his numbers turn around, just because I think there\u2019s a false narrative in many cases about supply chain shortages, gas prices or whatever,\u201d said vulnerable Rep.
