The power they have would be diminished, however, if conservatives regained control of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe our field needs to evolve, and that it\u2019s time to reimagine our work in a way that helps us best serve newcomers while rebuilding a bipartisan and constructive case for what immigration means for America,\u201d Michael Bloomberg, who founded NAE more than a decade ago, told Axios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s rare that nonprofits merge, but it shouldn\u2019t be,\u201d Jeremy Robbins, executive director of NAE who will retain that title for the new group, told the Axios.<\/p>\n<p>The combined group will operate under AIC\u2019s name, Axios reported. (Photo by JEFF KOWALSKY\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe newly combined organization will have a broad suite of advocacy tools to better expand and protect the rights of immigrants, more fully ensure immigrants\u2019 ability to succeed economically, and help make the communities they settle in more welcoming,\u201d NAE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newamericaneconomy.org\/press-release\/american-immigration-council-and-new-american-economy-announce-merger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe advocacy tools and networks the two organizations are bringing are complimentary, and the merger will help each of the respective bodies of work have more impact,\u201d NAE said.<\/p>\n<p>NAE has worked to develop economic research alongside building state and local advocacy networks that have a presence in more than 100 communities, Axios reported. These efforts will continue after the merger. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/04\/latino-vote-virginia-new-jersey-glenn-youngkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: No One Is Sure Who Won The Latino Vote In Virginia, But It\u2019s Not Looking Good For Democrats)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The GOP made&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/12\/joe-biden-mike-garcia-nicole-malliotakis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gains<\/a> with the Latino community, a demographic often at the center of immigration debates, in the 2020 presidential election. A new poll from Bendixen &amp; Amandi International <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/06\/hispanic-latino-voters-poll-latinx-latina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">showed<\/a> that only two percent of Hispanic voters identify as \u201cLatinx,\u201d a gender-neutral term used predominately among liberals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear my office is not allowed to use \u2018Latinx\u2019 in official communications,\u201d Democratic Arizona Rep.
