Democrat leaders have discussed adding a debt ceiling provision to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>That legislative option appears to have bipartisan support as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) signaled to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) that he could support slipping a debt ceiling provision into the NDAA.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10013100\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"34\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/60da39_senate-majority-leader-mitch-mcconnell-top-democrat-chuck-schumer-pictured.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10013100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/60da39_senate-majority-leader-mitch-mcconnell-top-democrat-chuck-schumer-pictured.jpg\" alt=\"AFP\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Mitch McConnell&nbsp;(right) and Chuck Schumer, pictured in February 2018. Scott Applewhite)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The NDAA faces an uncertain fate in the House, where as many as 38 House Democrats voted against the defense authorization bill in September, objecting to the bill\u2019s high-spending level. Democrat leaders hope to gain many of the 75 House Republicans who helped the NDAA pass earlier this year if they add the debt ceiling amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats believe McConnell could persuade Republicans to get enough Republicans to vote for the debt ceiling and NDAA package.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat seems na\u00efve: McCarthy wants to be speaker and will almost certainly come under pressure from the far-right to take a position and enforce it,\u201d&nbsp;<em>Politico<\/em> wrote Monday.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy has helped keep the Republican Conference united ahead of major legislative battles.<\/p>\n<p>Only one Republican, the Never Trump Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/02\/kevin-mccarthy-holds-the-line-against-democrat-stop-gap-bill-as-conservatives-fight-vaccine-mandate\/\">voted<\/a> for the continuing resolution to keep the government open as conservatives launched a battle to defund President Joe Biden\u2019s vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>No Republicans voted for the $1.7 trillion Build Back Better Act.<\/p>\n<p><i>Sean Moran is a congressional reporter for Breitbart News.
