I realized, \u2018I think I filled it out twice,&#8217;\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.6283783783784\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Man accidentally buys two identical lottery tickets, wins two jackpots <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SE97OFGKdn\">https:\/\/t.co\/SE97OFGKdn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Odd News from @UPI (@OddNewsUPI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OddNewsUPI\/status\/1466174296753991684?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the lottery\u2019s website, he got two emails because he bought the tickets through the lottery\u2019s Online Play program on his phone.<\/p>\n<p>Winners are notified by email when they win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I realized I won, I had to lay down on the floor because I really just couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d Thomas recalled. \u201cIt\u2019s just a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, when he got to lottery headquarters to collect his big winnings, he had one decision to make.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt age 49, he could take both prizes as annuities, receiving a total of $50,000 every year for the rest of his life. He could take one prize as an annuity \u2013 $25,000 a year for life \u2013 and the second as a lump sum of $390,000. Or, he could take both as lump-sum prizes of $390,000 each,\u201d the lottery\u2019s website read.<\/p>\n<p>He chose to take both prizes in lump sum payments which was $780,000, because he plans to invest in his business, pay off several bills, help his family members, and maybe buy a home.<\/p>\n<p>After federal and state tax withholdings, he walked away with $551,851.<\/p>\n<p>Social media users congratulated Thomas on his big win, one person <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nclottery\/posts\/10159843176179374?comment_id=10159843684079374\">writing<\/a>, \u201cAtt\u2019a boy, lighting does strike twice in one place!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best accident of his life!
