The total cost of the payouts would reach&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/analysis-biden-proposal-could-turn-illegal-alien-families-into-millionaires\/\">$1 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tillis.senate.gov\/services\/files\/762C929E-4E30-457D-B85A-056515E7BD1C\">seeking<\/a> to stop the payouts \u2014 introducing legislation that would ban the federal government from using American taxpayer money on settlements with illegal aliens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile American families are struggling anxiously just to keep pace with President Biden\u2019s inflation, the President now wants to make millionaires out of people who crossed the border illegally,\u201d McConnell said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s beyond parody. Obviously, this would only exacerbate the Democrats\u2019 border crisis and incentivize the riskiest and most dangerous kinds of illegal immigration.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Titled the \u201cProtect American Taxpayer Dollars from Illegal Immigration Act,\u201d the legislation would prevent federal funds in legal settlements, including those from the Judgement Fund, from going toward any individual who violated federal immigration law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be unthinkable to pay damages to a burglar who broke into your home for the \u2018psychological trauma\u2019 they endured during the crime,\u201d Cotton said:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>And yet the Biden administration wants to reward migrants who illegally entered our country with up to $450,000 each for just that reason. <strong>The Biden administration\u2019s promises of citizenship and entitlement programs have already caused the worst border crisis in history\u2014a huge cash reward will make it even worse<\/strong>. This is the height of insanity. [Emphasis added]\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sens. James Risch (R-ID), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Mike Lee (R-UT), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), James Lankford (R-OK), John Hoeven (R-ND), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Richard Shelby (R-AL), Rick Scott (R-FL), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Mike Braun (R-IN), John Thune (R-SD), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Todd Young (R-IN), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Mitt Romney (R-UT) are cosponsoring the legislation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.7258566978193\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8BREAKING from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@foxnews<\/a>\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamShawNY?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AdamShawNY<\/a>: Senators Thom Tillis, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenTomCotton?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenTomCotton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnCornyn?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JohnCornyn<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeaderMcConnell?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LeaderMcConnell<\/a> will introduce the Protect American Taxpayer Dollars from Illegal Immigration Act.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about our legislation here \u2b07\ufe0f<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/npISXPi5RH\">https:\/\/t.co\/npISXPi5RH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Thom Tillis (@SenThomTillis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenThomTillis\/status\/1466467197656702980?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/23\/joe-bidens-plan-for-450k-payouts-to-border-crossers-stalls-amidst-backlash\/\">last reported<\/a>, the payouts have stalled following immense backlash from the American public.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>About&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/21\/poll-over-6-in-10-americans-oppose-bidens-450k-for-border-crossers\/\">63 percent<\/a>&nbsp;of Americans told CBS News\/YouGov pollsters that they are opposed to the payouts, including 64 percent of swing voters, and even 4-in-10 voters who supported Biden against Trump in the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Polls from Rasmussen Reports and the&nbsp;National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) have shown&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/07\/poll-majority-oppose-bidens-450k-payouts-border-crossers\/\">similar results<\/a>&nbsp;where a majority of Americans, including likely&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/08\/poll-2-in-3-swing-voters-oppose-bidens-450k-payouts-to-border-crossers\/\">swing voters<\/a>, oppose the payouts.<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News has noted, the $450,000 payouts to border crossers&nbsp;would far&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/29\/bidens-450k-reparations-for-border-crossers-exceeds-payments-to-9-11-victims-american-military-families\/\">exceed<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;compensation&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/31\/bidens-450k-border-crossers-nearly-double-payments-given-boston-bombing-victims\/\">provided<\/a>&nbsp;to the victims of the September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorist attacks and of the Boston Marathon bombings.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) calculated that the single payout for a border crosser under the proposal could feed 42 American families for an entire year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the total cost of the payouts could provide homes to nearly 80,000 homeless Americans for a year or could forgive student loan debt for more than 27,000 American college students and graduates who are struggling to move up the economic ladder.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
