Seeding should be the only question as we await the final college football playoff rankings, which will be unveiled Sunday at noon ET.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, let\u2019s take a look at what went down on Championship Saturday in college football.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Baylor ends Oklahoma State\u2019s CFP hopes<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to the new Big 12. <\/p>\n<p>For years, the conference was regarded as nothing more than basketball on grass. Explosive offenses and sieve-like defenses ruled the day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Baylor\u2019s defense came up huge with two goal line stands, the second with under 30 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, and the Bears ended Oklahoma State\u2019s chance at the College Football Playoff, winning their third Big 12 Championship in school history in a 21-16 victory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All year long, the best unit for Mike Gundy\u2019s team has been his defense, and they were once again on Saturday, giving Oklahoma State\u2019s offense every chance to win the game. Down 21-3 in the second quarter, the Cowboys defense stifled Baylor the rest of the way, holding the Bears scoreless in the second half. But it was the Baylor defense that made the game-deciding play.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Needing a touchdown, Oklahoma State\u2019s offense took over with 3:14 to go in the game, driving down to the Baylor two-yard line. After two run plays and an incomplete pass, Oklahoma State handed the ball to running back Dezmon Jackson on fourth down, who came up just inches short of completing an 18-point comeback.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BAYLOR STOPS OKLAHOMA STATE ON 4TH DOWN \ud83d\ude31 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9JlKW4ZLrv\">pic.twitter.com\/9JlKW4ZLrv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SportsCenter\/status\/1467231059041406976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I saw the running back with the ball, I thought I\u2019ve got to run this guy down,\u201d Baylor safety Jairon McVea <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/32788159\/no-9-baylor-bears-stun-no-5-oklahoma-state-cowboys-capture-big-12-football-championship\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe ref signaled not a touchdown, so when I saw that I was pretty happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Without leading rusher Jaylen Warren \u2014 out with ankle and shoulder injuries \u2014 Oklahoma State\u2019s offense struggled to move the ball, the running game was non-existent (70 yards on 40 attempts), and quarterback Spencer Sanders threw a career high four interceptions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re heartsick, they\u2019re heartbroken, because they did everything I asked them to do,\u201d Cowboys defensive coordinator Jim Knowles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oklahoman.com\/story\/sports\/2021\/12\/05\/osu-football-how-cowboys-defense-nearly-shutout-baylor-big-12\/8867068002\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cI wish I had one more better call in the first half.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish I could do something for them, but all I can do is tell them I love them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baylor finishes the regular season 11-2 after a year in which they won just two games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati completes undefeated regular season, in prime position for CFP berth<\/p>\n<p>The Bearcats entered halftime up just one, clinging to a 14-13 lead over a Houston team that had won 11 games in a row.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They took the field for the second half and quickly put the game to rest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Three quick third quarter touchdowns by Cincinnati put them up 35-13, and Luke Fickell\u2019s team completed their undefeated season as they now wait on being selected as the first Group of Five team to the CFP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe resounding statement is what we did on that football field,\u201d Fickell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/recap?gameId=401331162\">said<\/a>. \u201cNobody is going to call and ask us what we think. I don\u2019t think these guys can be denied that opportunity. It would be a shame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati running back Jerome Ford carried the ball 18 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns \u2014 including runs of 79 and 42 yards \u2014 and quarterback Desmond Ridder threw for three touchdowns in a 35-20 victory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati has done all it can in order to impress the playoff committee, and more than enough in the eyes of Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went toe to toe with them for as long as we could,\u201d Holgorsen said. \u201cThey are first-class and deserving of top four. I don\u2019t know how you keep Cincinnati out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alabama finally puts it all together, hands Georgia first loss&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The question as the SEC Championship Game approached was whether Georgia\u2019s historically great defense would continue their dominant run against a Heisman trophy contender in Bryce Young.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The answer? A resounding no.<\/p>\n<p>Coming into the game, 387 yards was the most Georgia\u2019s defense had allowed in a single game. Alabama had 365 yards \u2026 in the first half.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Young\u2019s performance \u2014 26-44, 421 yards, three touchdowns \u2014 may have locked up the Heisman, and Nick Saban moved to 4-0 against Kirby Smart in a 41-24 Alabama win.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe played great tonight,\u201d Saban <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/recap?gameId=401282154\">said<\/a> of Young. \u201cHe\u2019s played great for us all year long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alabama finished the night with 536 total yards, and will now head to a seventh College Football Playoff. I don\u2019t know how it works out, but we believe in each other. We believe in ourselves, but there\u2019s always a little external motivation.
