Under dictator Xi Jinping, Chinese officials are currently engaging in a long list of human rights abuses that include genocide, slavery, live organ harvesting, and extreme repression of basic liberties.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The administration of President Joe Biden, through Secretary of State Antony Blinken, <a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2021\/03\/31\/blinken-uyghur-china-human-rights-report\/\">declared<\/a> China\u2019s eradication of Uyghur people in East Turkistan, an occupied region in western China, a genocide in March. East Turkistan, which the Communist Party refers to as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, is home to an estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2018\/12\/01\/reuters-reveals-up-to-1200-muslim-gulags-built-in-china\/\">1,200<\/a> concentration camps that, at their peak, housed as many as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2019\/05\/06\/feds-china-muslim-crackdown-number-detainees-may-have-tripled-less-than-1-year\/\">3 million<\/a> people, most of them Uyghur Muslims. Outside of the camps, extensive evidence compiled by human rights experts has revealed the widespread use of slavery, forced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/06\/08\/eyewitnesses-china-sterilizing-entire-uyghur-villages\/\">sterilization<\/a>, espionage, indoctrination, and other abuses in an attempt to eliminate Uyghurs and replace them with eastern China\u2019s dominant Han population.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the ongoing genocide, the Biden administration has refused to consider a boycott of the Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14744502\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"36\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-490009808.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14744502\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-490009808.jpg\" alt=\"(L-R) US Vice President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US Secretary of State John Kerry make a toast during a State Luncheon for China hosted by Kerry on September 25, 2015 at the Department of State in Washington, DC. RICHARDS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Other crimes the Xi regime stands accused of include the mass imprisonment and torture of other spiritual minorities, such as \u201cillegal\u201d Christians and Falun Gong practitioners; the mass arrests of human rights defense lawyers; and the silencing of a variety of \u201cundesirable\u201d political groups such as feminists, anti-Xi Maoists, and environmentalists.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The CECC has repeatedly written to the IOC urging it to relocate the 2022 Olympic Games or reschedule them to avoid granting China the honor of being a host and the promotional and financial benefits that may come with it. Noting that the IOC has ignored it, the chair of the commission, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and co-chair Rep. James McGovern (D-MA) announced the debut of the #OlympicPrisoner campaign on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe it\u2019s a mistake for the IOC to hold these games in China at a time when the Chinese government continues to commit genocide, strip Hong Kong\u2019s autonomy, squeeze journalists, free thinkers, and civil society throughout mainland China and bully its crtitics globally,\u201d McGovern said in a video statement announcing the initiative. Describing the Olympics as a \u201cspectacle designed to distract us\u201d from the Communist Party\u2019s abuses, he explained the CECC agreed to attempt to shift the focus away from the abusers and towards the victims.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, Merkley notes that the CECC would highlight one political prisoner a day for the next 60 days before the Olympics begun.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CECC Co-Chairs Jim McGovern &amp; Jeff Merkley Announce #OlympicPrisoner Project for Beijing Olympics\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gJ6pV2e-I-4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>The CECC began on Thursday by highlighting the story of Huang Qi, a citizen journalist sentenced to 12 years in prison for running a website that documented government human rights abuses \u2013 a legitimate exercise of the fundamental freedom of the press, which the Communist Party does not acknowledge.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.3193277310924\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Citizen journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HuangQi?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HuangQi<\/a> remains arbitrarily detained for reporting on rights violations. The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Chinese?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Chinese<\/a> government promised not to restrict press freedoms during <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Olympics2022?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Olympics2022<\/a> despite having one of the world\u2019s worst records on protecting freedom of expression. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OlympicPrisoner?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OlympicPrisoner<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/80YiOE886f\">pic.twitter.com\/80YiOE886f<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 China Commission (@CECCgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CECCgov\/status\/1466503059366989841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Huang Qi was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/documents\/asa17\/3107\/2020\/en\/\">sentenced<\/a> to 12 years in prison in 2019 and, according to Amnesty International, suffers from significant medical problems that the Communist Party has not confirmed it is addressing in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuang Qi is a prisoner of conscience who has been detained solely for exercising his human right to freedom of expression,\u201d Amnesty declared last year.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the CECC highlighted the case of another citizen journalist, Zhang Zhan, who was among the first people to begin exposing the horrific abuses the Communist Party committed in the city of Wuhan in the early days of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.4050632911392\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Citizen journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ZhangZhan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ZhangZhan<\/a> was arrested to silence her work exposing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>\u2019s transmission in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Wuhan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Wuhan<\/a> and now faces a dire medical crisis from a hunger strike she started in detention. She should be immediately freed. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OlympicPrisoner?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OlympicPrisoner<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/u6JsbYDW2y\">pic.twitter.com\/u6JsbYDW2y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 China Commission (@CECCgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CECCgov\/status\/1466836467611840517?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Zhang, a lawyer by trade, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/11\/05\/chinese-journalist-wuhan-death-hunger-strike\/\">arrested<\/a> in May 2020 after spending much of the winter attempting to publicize the chaos in Wuhan, recording videos of hospitals and other key facilities in the city that revealed poor management and abuse of Chinese coronavirus victims and families. The Communist Party still maintains that it handled the early days of the pandemic well and is the only nation to have successfully conquered the virus.
