The micro preemie weighed 1 lb 9 oz. at birth. She spent 112 days in the NICU. <\/p>\n<p>She went home from the hospital in time to spend Thanksgiving with family. <\/p>\n<p>Doctors call this sweet baby a miracle.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t wait to share her story at 4!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/khou11?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#khou11<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/U4BiaMXCWA\">pic.twitter.com\/U4BiaMXCWA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stephanie Whitfield (@KHOUStephanie) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KHOUStephanie\/status\/1466520058977570821?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Gallegos was transferred to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, with its Level IV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.memorialhermann.org\/services\/specialties\/childrens\/nicu\">Neonatal Intensive Care Unit<\/a> (NICU).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>When JC was born, she was placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing and received nutrition through an IV in her umbilical cord.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn day one, day two, day 30\u2026I didn\u2019t think it would be possible to spend the holidays together,\u201d said Juana. \u201cGod had other plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her daughter was discharged after spending 112 days in the NICU, in time for Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>While JC still requires physical therapy, the physicians treating her are thrilled with her progress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I wish this story would happen with every baby born this early, it\u2019s not possible,\u201d Dr. Rebecca Ballard, MD, neonatologist, Memorial Hermann\/Pediatrix Medical Group of Texas said. \u201cNot to think her story represents every baby, but it makes it so much more miraculous that it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>JC is now meeting the developmental milestones of her adjusted age of two months old.<\/p>\n<p>JC\u2019s father told WCNC they view trying moments for parents of newborns from another perspective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see it in a different point of view as grateful, because we wouldn\u2019t experience that if she wasn\u2019t here,\u201d Eduardo Macias said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.0933333333333\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Curtis Zy-Keith Means had sub-1% chance of survival but he&#8217;s now a happy and healthy 16-month-old!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Guinness World Records (@GWR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GWR\/status\/1458392491455959043?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In November, Guinness World Records and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2021\/11\/10\/alabama-boy-worlds-most-premature-infant-survive\/\">announced<\/a> an Alabama baby boy who was born at only 21 weeks and one day has been officially named the world\u2019s most premature baby to survive.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis Zy-Keith Means, who weighed less than one pound at birth, was discharged in April after spending 275 days in the hospital.
