(JOHANNES EISELE\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 12:41 PM PT \u2013 Friday, December 3, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>One Columbia University student is dead and another injured in a stabbing that occurred right outside the campus.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the university\u2019s president identified Davide Giri as the deceased student. Giri, who was a PhD candidate for the School of Engineering and Applied Science, was stabbed to death Thursday night by an alleged gang member.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities found another 27-year-old male victim nearby, who is an Italian tourist and had just arrived in New York this week. Reports said the stabbings don\u2019t appear to have been provoked and the suspect likely didn\u2019t even know the victims.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are deeply saddened to share that Davide Giri, a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CUSEAS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CUSEAS<\/a> graduate student, was killed in a violent attack near campus last night. A criminal investigation is ongoing. At least according to the second one, which has survived. So, this doesn\u2019t even appear to be a robbery.
