He saw a double-digit drop among Democrats and Independents.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, conducted by Harvard Public Opinion Project, <a href=\"https:\/\/iop.harvard.edu\/youth-poll\/fall-2021-harvard-youth-poll\">surveyed<\/a> adults ages 18-29 about a number of key political opinions. Overall, 2,109 people were polled throughout Fall 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s approval among the demographic was nearing 60% back in March, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/12\/01\/joe-biden-young-voter-problem-523588\">that<\/a> has dropped as he has a 51% disapproval rate among the same group now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe slippage is consistent with other polling, which portrays an across-the-board polling rut for the president,\u201d Politico reported, \u201c And it\u2019s a warning sign ahead of next year\u2019s midterm elections, when Democrats will be trying to convince younger voters \u2014 who are more likely to sit out non-presidential elections \u2014 to show up at the polls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s popularity as a whole across the country hasn\u2019t been much better. One recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sltrib.com\/news\/politics\/2021\/12\/02\/president-joe-bidens\/\">poll<\/a> out of Utah found that nearly two thirds of Utahns disapprove of Biden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While 63% disapproved of his job, only 32% still approved of the administration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough Utah doesn\u2019t have the same battleground status as other states in the Southwest, the data is telling a similar story in Utah as it has told in Arizona and Nevada: Voters across the aisle are increasingly disappointed in the job Biden is doing, and they are turning their frustrations to Democratic officeholders and candidates,\u201d said Mike Noble, a researcher with the group who conducted the poll.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also asked respondents what they thought about American exceptionalism and the possibility of civil war.<\/p>\n<p>Just 31% of those surveyed (including 62% of Republicans) believe that \u201cAmerica is the greatest country in the world.\u201d Half of those surveyed said that other countries were greater or \u201cas great\u201d (including 64% of Democrats).<\/p>\n<p>The survey found that an increasing number of young Americans think that there may be succession or civil war in the future, Biden\u2019s approval among the young has fallen, and more than half are not positive about the state of American democracy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since Harvard\u2019s spring 2021 poll, Biden\u2019s approval has declined by 13 points overall, with a double-digit drop among both Democrats and Independents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Young Americans are also quite skeptical of American democracy, according to the poll, with over half saying that the nation is in \u201ctrouble\u201d or a \u201cfailed democracy.\u201d While just 8% of Democrats say that American democracy has failed, almost one quarter (23%) of Republicans polled do.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many of those surveyed also think there is a strong likelihood of civil war in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly half (46%) of young Republicans place the chances of a second civil war at 50% or higher, compared to 32% of Democrats, and 38% of independent and unaffiliated voters,\u201d the poll found.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over half told pollsters that they wanted the government to do more to combat climate change, though this again varied heavily along party lines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than seven-in-ten (71%) Democrats don\u2019t think the government is doing enough, compared to 27% of Republicans, and 56% of independents,\u201d the poll found, \u201cFourteen percent (14%) say that the government is doing \u2018too much to address climate change,\u2019 while 12 percent think it is \u2018just about the right amount.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Della Volpe, the Institute of Politics polling director, was a Biden campaign advisor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they look at the America they will soon inherit, they see a democracy and climate in peril \u2014 and Washington as more interested in confrontation than compromise,\u201d he<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/12\/01\/1060429939\/young-americans-are-raising-alarms-about-the-state-of-u-s-democracy-in-a-new-pol\"> said<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
