Players don\u2019t always see the need to play intensely on the defensive end of the court on a nightly basis, and \u201cload management\u201d has become a regular part of the NBA season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most games still remain competitive, however, until Thursday night\u2019s game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma State Thunder, that is.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Grizzlies set an NBA record for margin of victory, beating the Thunder by 73-points in a 152-79 win. According to NBA.com, the 73-point win eclipses the previous record set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1991 when they beat the Miami Heat by 68 points.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">history. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sDt8SNu1zY\">pic.twitter.com\/sDt8SNu1zY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Memphis Grizzlies (@memgrizz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/memgrizz\/status\/1466606224594677760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTonight is not necessarily who we are,\u201d Thunder coach Mark Daigneault <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/12\/03\/sport\/grizzlies-thunder-nba-winning-record-spt-intl\/index.html\">told<\/a> reporters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019ve definitely shown that from a competitive standpoint \u2014 this isn\u2019t indicative of who our team is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompetition comes with great joy, and it also comes with grief and frustration and anger \u2026 It\u2019s why the joy feels so good because, when you get punched and you taste your own blood, it doesn\u2019t feel right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Memphis led 72-36 at the end of the first half, and continued rolling in the second, shooting a franchise record 62.5% shooting from the field with nine players scoring in double-figures. Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. led Memphis in scoring, pouring in 27 points on 9-11 shooting from the field. With a little over three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Thunder trailed by 78 points.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-61 Component-p-0-2-52\">\u201cMan, it feels great. It feels great to be in the history books, especially in front of our home crowd,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/news\/grizzlies-set-nba-record-with-73-point-victory-over-thunder\">said<\/a> De\u2019Anthony Melton, who scored 19 points. \u201cAnd we did it one through 15. Everybody contributed, everybody played hard and we all got to get in the game.
