Biden once called the policy \u201cdangerous\u201d and \u201cinhumane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d requires asylum seekers to remain in their countries of origin throughout the asylum application process until their U.S. court date. Trump first implemented the policy in 2019, and Biden vowed on the campaign trail to dismantle it once he was in office. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas terminated the policy in June, and Biden had already suspended it on his first day in office.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cDonald Trump\u2019s \u2018Remain in Mexico\u2019 policy is dangerous, inhumane, and goes against everything we stand for as a nation of immigrants,\u201d Biden said in March 2020. \u201cMy administration will end it.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.2606837606838\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d policy is dangerous, inhumane, and goes against everything we stand for as a nation of immigrants. After doing so, the Biden administration then <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/29\/biden-admin-rescinds-remain-in-mexico-again-despite-court-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">took another crack <\/a>at ending it in late October, only to reimpose a version of it on Thursday. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/28\/mexico-deport-migrants-traveing-north\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Mexico Commits To Deporting Migrants To Their Home Countries)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new policy makes various changes to the Trump-era version, most notably that every asylum seeker will be offered a COVID-19 vaccination, though the administration claims it cannot mandate the vaccine. The new version also ensures that asylum seekers will have access to legal counsel throughout the application, and seeks to limit application proceedings to six months, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/29\/biden-administration-makes-second-attempt-to-end-trump-era-remain-in-mexico-asylum-policy-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have faced criticism for their handling of the border crisis, which has seen record-breaking border crossing encounters throughout 2021. Biden appointed <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/29\/white-house-kamala-harris-border-czar-immigration\/\">Harris<\/a> to handle the crisis in March, but the flow of migrants has continued.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Remain in Mexico policy will officially take effect Dec. 6, and immigration activist groups have blasted Biden for complying with the court order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe resumption of this program \u2026 represents a serious step backward in the promise by the Biden administration to focus on the factors triggering the increase in forced migration from <span class=\"il\">Mexico<\/span> and Central American nations over the past year.
