He added that the typical American has experienced wage increases that have accounted for gasoline price hikes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you find it outrageous that it costs more than that today?\u201d Borenstein wrote. \u201cIf your answer is no \u2014 because the price of almost everything has gone up in the past six decades \u2014 then, like me, you may be exasperated by much of the recent commentary on the cost of gas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough gasoline has become less affordable to those whom society is leaving behind, it has not become less affordable to the typical household,\u201d Borenstein said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/02\/democratic-party-joe-biden-oil-prices-gasoline-white-house\/\">(RELATED: Democrats Pop Champagne Corks Over 2-Cent Reduction In Gas Prices, Praise Joe Biden)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7331292\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"32\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7331292\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Joe Biden delivers remarks at the White House on Friday. (Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>However, inflation-adjusted gasoline prices remain near their highest level since 2014, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/petroleum\/gasdiesel\/\">according<\/a> to data compiled by the Energy Information Administration. While the nationwide average price of gasoline has dipped slightly in the last two weeks, it continues to rise on the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The average price of gasoline hit $3.37 per gallon on Friday, a more than 55% increase compared to just one year ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">according<\/a> to AAA.<\/p>\n<p>Gas prices have also increased far more than consumer prices in other sectors, the latest Consumer Price Index report from the Labor Department&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\">showed<\/a>. The agency\u2019s gasoline index surged 6.1% in the one-month period between September and October, nearly as much as all prices increased over the previous 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, wages haven\u2019t kept up with gas price increases, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.t19.htm\">according<\/a> to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.
