In June, for instance, Mayor-Elect Eric Adams (D) won the Democrat mayoral primary by less than 7,200 votes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis bill, if it becomes law, will allow foreign powers \u2014 already having a strong presence here given our international status as a capital of the [United Nations] \u2014 the ability to influence U.S. elections,\u201d Langworthy said.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NYGOP Press Conference on NYC Council Vote to Allow More Than 800k Non-Citizens to Vote\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/21TNiWzjftk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Langworthy said the New York state constitution is \u201cpretty explicit\u201d that voting rights are reserved only for American citizens, calling the plan \u201cperhaps the worst idea out of New York City Democrats ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s against federal law for non-citizens to vote and, in fact, it\u2019s unconstitutional in the state of New York for that to happen,\u201d Langworthy said. \u201cThe New York state constitution is pretty explicit \u2026 [and] we will pursue every legal avenue to see that this dangerous law is struck down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newly-elected New York City Councilman David Carr, who represents Staten Island, said the issue is not an attack on the city\u2019s 3.1 million-strong foreign-born population but rather a defense of American citizenship. Carr is the son of British and Italian immigrants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe right to vote is a right that belongs exclusively to citizenship,\u201d Carr said. \u201cIt is a unique mark of citizenship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week,&nbsp;New York City Councilman Rev. Ruben Diaz, a lifelong Democrat representing the Bronx,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/29\/nyc-democrat-councilman-radical-agenda-by-democrats-to-give-voting-rights-to-non-citizens-dangerous\/\">blasted the plan<\/a>&nbsp;as an effort that will dilute the votes of American citizens while allowing foreign nationals connected to the global financial system, but who live in Manhattan, to decide local elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a dangerous and misguided effort being made by some elected officials to overlook the law which offers citizens \u2013 not noncitizens \u2013 in New York City, the right to vote,\u201d Diaz said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 New York City, which is home to both the United Nations and Wall Street could easily be taken over by any group of noncitizens who live here for 30 days and vote for the leader of their choice,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The New York City Council is expected to approve the plan on December 9.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
