Dan Sullivan (R., Alaska) slammed presidential climate envoy John Kerry for working against a bill that would prohibit imports from China derived from Uyghur forced labor on Thursday, citing a <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> article on the Senate floor.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan\u2019s comments came after Senate Democrats blocked a vote on the proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday, citing conflicting reasons for the holdup. Sources&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/senate-dems-blocking-measure-to-prohibit-imports-made-with-chinese-slave-labor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/senate-dems-blocking-measure-to-prohibit-imports-made-with-chinese-slave-labor\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1638569196825000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2pwKKAa1R27o7HMzvdJ1fe\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the <em>Free Beacon<\/em> this week that Democrats were objecting to the amendment because some Biden administration officials feared it would undermine climate negotiations with China.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Evidently, there\u2019s one American who disagrees with [banning imports linked to forced labor],&#8221; said Sullivan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Here\u2019s an article today, Madam President, from the <em>Free Beacon<\/em>, that talks about senior Biden officials are worried that this bill stopping slave labor products from China coming into America will \u2018undermine the White House\u2019s climate agenda\u2019 and unfortunately \u2018limit solar panel imports from China,\u2019 and \u2018presidential climate envoy John Kerry among others has been lobbying congressional members against the bill.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wow. Wow. That\u2019s remarkable. Why would he do that? Why would he do that? Someone needs to ask John Kerry that. That\u2019s just one example.
