Check Your Fact didn\u2019t find any indication&nbsp;she said the quote or had the interaction with Rittenhouse described in the image.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Huber was one of the two men fatally shot by Rittenhouse during an Aug. 25, 2020, protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/20\/1057571558\/what-we-know-3-men-kyle-rittenhouse-victims-rosenbaum-huber-grosskreutz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NPR<\/a>. Another man was shot and injured in the incident. Gittings attended the protest with Huber the night he was killed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/20\/1057571558\/what-we-know-3-men-kyle-rittenhouse-victims-rosenbaum-huber-grosskreutz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the outlet<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWfG68jPicr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">purported article<\/a> about Gittings supposedly making a specific comment about Rittenhouse and handing him her phone number at the courthouse started circulating online after the jury found Rittenhouse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/19\/us\/legal-experts-what-helped-rittenhouse-acquittal\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not guilty<\/a> of the five charges against him. \u201cIf he [Rittenhouse] like ever need someone to talk to I would down (<em>sic<\/em>) for that. I think now is the time to come together and heal,\u201d Gittings supposedly said.<\/p>\n<p>While Gittings has expressed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenoshanews.com\/news\/local\/anthony-hubers-loved-ones-speak-out-after-not-guilty-verdict-in-rittenhouse-trial\/article_7d5bfe5d-24c1-528b-b7d3-04962e412c7f.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some sympathy<\/a> toward Rittenhouse, there is no evidence that she made the comment attributed to her in the purported article or handed Rittenhouse her phone number as he left the courtroom. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-victim-girlfriend-hannah-gittings\/38295180#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Multiple<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs58.com\/news\/girlfriend-of-anthony-huber-man-fatally-shot-by-kyle-rittenhouse-speaks-out\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B54WQQNZTtk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlets<\/a> covered Gittings\u2019 comments during and after the verdict, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=hannah+gittings+rittenhouse+phone+number&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS966US966&amp;oq=hannah+gittings+rittenhouse+phone+number&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57.6135j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">none<\/a> feature the quote or interaction with Rittenhouse. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/11\/22\/fact-check-video-wisconsin-bar-people-reacting-kyle-rittenhouse-trial-verdict\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show A Wisconsin Bar Full Of People Reacting To The Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article in the image appears to be fake. The paragraph beneath the photo collage in the fabricated article is nearly identical to one published in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10219895\/Girlfriend-man-shot-dead-Kyle-Rittenhouse-says-lot-sympathy-teenager.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nov. 19 Daily Mail story<\/a>, though that Daily Mail article does not include the supposed quote or the alleged courtroom interaction between Gittings and Rittenhouse. A <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/11\/18\/anthony-hubers-girlfriend-has-a-lot-of-sympathy-for-kyle-rittenhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nov. 18 New York Post article<\/a> that uses the same photo of Gittings also didn\u2019t report she said the remark about being \u201cdown\u201d to talk to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody there that night was not traumatized,\u201d Gittings said when asked about Rittenhouse\u2019s testimony, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-victim-girlfriend-hannah-gittings\/38295180#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WISN 12<\/a> reported Nov. 18. \u201cI felt for him and his mother. He\u2019s a kid and as a mother myself, it\u2019s difficult to watch your child go through things like that. I wish they could have the same empathy for us and realize that all of us have been crying probably a lot worse than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenoshanews.com\/users\/profile\/deneen%20smith\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deneen Smith<\/a>, a Kenosha News reporter who covered the trial, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/deneenknews\/status\/1461760755225841670\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> Nov. 19 about Gittings leaving the courtroom after Rittenhouse\u2019s acquittal and did not mention anything about her handing Rittenhouse a note.
