The terminal would have liquefied up to 1.04 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day for export and hosted two full-containment storage tanks on site, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferc.gov\/final-environmental-impact-statement-jordan-cove-energy-project\">according<\/a> to previous federal permit records.<\/p>\n<p>But the project, which dates back to 2004, was fiercely opposed by environmentalists while state officials created permitting roadblocks that Pembina struggled to hurdle. In 2020, the Republican-majority Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the project, but the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferc.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-01\/C-16-CP17-494-003.pdf\">rescinded approval<\/a> in January, upholding Oregon\u2019s rejection of the plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPembina Pipeline Corporation has decided to pause the development of Jordan Cove LNG while we reassess the impact of recent regulatory decisions,\u201d the company said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jordancovelng.com\/\">statement<\/a> on Wednesday. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/08\/joe-biden-administration-pipeline-michigan-energy-midwest-line-5\/\">(RELATED: Biden Mulls Shutting Down Pipeline That Supplies Energy To Midwest)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7330525\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"33\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7330525\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Joe Biden holds a briefing with state officials including Oregon Gov. (Saul Loeb\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhile we continue to believe in the strategic rationale of Jordan Cove, in light of current regulatory and political uncertainty, our decision reflects our steadfast commitment to our financial guardrails, our disciplined and prudent approach to capital allocation, and our commitment to comprehensively mitigating risk on this project,\u201d Pembina said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the project\u2019s associate general counsel, Donald Sullivan, informed FERC that the firm would withdraw its application due to concerns about the \u201cability to obtain the necessary state permits,\u201d The Oregonian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/business\/2021\/12\/jordan-cove-developers-abandon-plans-for-pipeline-coos-bay-lng-terminal.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A coalition of environmentalists and land owners opposed the project for years, arguing that it would contaminate the climate and could contribute to global warming, according to the AP.
