class=\"subheading\">The British government has placed orders for 114 million more vaccine doses for use in 2022 and 2023, the Health Secretary has said.<\/p>\n<p>Orders for both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, totalling 114 million doses, have been officially placed by Boris Johnson\u2019s government, with the jabs scheduled for use in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>British Health Secretary Sajid Javid said that the newly signed contracts involve 60 million doses of Moderna and 54 million doses of Pfizer, and that the purchase of the doses was \u201caccelerated\u201d over fears regarding the new Omicron variant of the Chinese coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese deals will future proof our vaccine programme,\u201d Javid <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sajidjavid\/status\/1466327367824121857\">wrote<\/a> online, with the Health Secretary also <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/covid-19-uk-government-secure-114-million-more-vaccines-doses-for-the-next-two-years-as-cases-of-the-new-omicron-variant-rise-12484008\">telling<\/a>&nbsp;<em>Sky News&nbsp;<\/em>that the new doses would allow the United Kingdom to \u201cbuy time\u201d with the new variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaccines still remain our best line of defence,\u201d Javid said, emphasising that the order included jabs that would be modified to tackle new variants of the virus.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Javid also emphasized the importance of href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/12\/01\/two-years-of-control-new-uk-covid-rules-set-in-law-until-march\/\">rebellion<\/a> of some Conservatives MPs in the House of Commons during a vote on new coronavirus legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns were aired by some MPs over the proposed legislation only being scheduled to lapse in March of next year, despite the fact that the measures the laws are related to are set for review in mid-December.<\/p>\n<p>The now-passed laws, which require close contacts of confirmed Omicron cases to self-isolate for ten days, regardless of whether they test positive themselves or not, are set to expire exactly two years and one day after the first lockdown began in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>While other European countries have also been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/12\/02\/chinafication-of-europe-eu-president-hints-at-bloc-wide-vaccine-mandate\/\">toying<\/a> with the idea of mandatory vaccinations on top of lockdown measures, Javid has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/22\/health-secretary-javid-rules-out-mandatory-vaccines-for-britons\/\">previously<\/a> stated that it is not a measure he thinks the United Kingdom would ever consider.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Secretary has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/28\/lockdown-for-christmas-britons-avoid-more-holiday-restrictions-for-now\/\">claimed<\/a> that there were no plans for a lockdown this Christmas, but stopped short of promising one wouldn\u2019t occur.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the head of Pfizer, Dr Albert Bourla, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/health-59488848\">told<\/a> the <em>BBC<\/em> that he expects \u201cannual revaccinations\u201d to be required with respect to COVID-19 in order to maintain \u201cvery robust and very high levels of protection\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bourla also defended the fact the company expects to make $35bn this year from vaccine sales, saying that corporation has \u201csaved the global economy trillions of dollars\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s a strong incentive for innovation for the next pandemic,\u201d Dr Bourla said, claiming that it was a good thing that there was a financial reward for the company\u2019s work, but that the
