The continuing resolution would keep government funding at current levels until a broader agreement is reached to fund the government for the 2022 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo build pressure for an omnibus, the CR includes virtually no changes to existing funding or policy,\u201d DeLauro said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/appropriations.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/delauro-statement-on-continuing-resolution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>, noting that Democrats did secure $7 billion to aid Afghanistan evacuees. \u201cWhile I wish it were earlier, this agreement allows the appropriations process to move forward toward a final funding agreement which addresses the needs of the American people.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/30\/house-passes-funding-bill-clearing-way-keep-government-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Stopgap Funding Bill Clears Congress, Avoiding Shutdown With Hours To Spare)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The agreement could precede a House vote later Thursday. The stopgap bill, however, would then head to the Senate, where a pocket of Republicans have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/01\/republican-objections-to-bidens-vaccine-mandate-could-force-weeklong-government-shutdown-chuck-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pledged<\/a> to use procedural tactics to delay it unless they receive an amendment vote on scrapping funding for President Joe Biden\u2019s proposed vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Senate could pass the bill Friday before the shutdown goes into effect, it may take as long as nine days to pass the measure, which could result in a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/01\/republican-objections-to-bidens-vaccine-mandate-could-force-weeklong-government-shutdown-chuck-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">weeklong shutdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>This story is breaking and will be updated.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
