Dr. Anthony Fauci said the individual had returned from South Africa to the San Francisco Bay area on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Breaking: The first confirmed case of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OmicronVariant?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OmicronVariant<\/a> has been detected in the United States. Everyone 5 years and older should get vaccinated against <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>.
