(Photo by Scott Olson\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBased on the court proceedings to date it sure seems like Mayor Lightfoot is trying to dodge responsibility for her racist policy,\u201d Daily Caller News Foundation President Neil Patel said in the press release. \u201cWe hope the court does not let this happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lightfoot announced On May 18, 2021, that her office would only accept interview requests from \u201cblack or brown journalists,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/context\/letter-from-chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoot\/89bc44f0-230f-40c4-89ea-5b5e5651d873\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4\">according<\/a> to a letter from the mayor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTestimony in this lawsuit confirms Mayor Lightfoot is responsible for her racist interview policy and is, therefore, a necessary witness in this civil rights lawsuit,\u201d Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said.<\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/27\/daily-caller-news-foundation-lori-lightfoot-lawsuit\/\">lawsuit<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/07\/hearing-dcnf-lawsuit-lori-lightfoot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lightfoot<\/a> on behalf of the DCNF and Catenacci on May 27 after Catenacci was denied an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/28\/daily-caller-news-foundation-lawsuit-discuss-lori-lightfoot-chicago\/\">interview<\/a> based on his race. The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/11\/lori-lightfoot-daily-caller-news-foundation-policy-barring-white-reporters-frivolous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a>, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, alleges that Lightfoot\u2019s refusal violates the DCNF and Catenacci\u2019s First Amendment right as well as the reporter\u2019s right to equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/28\/daily-caller-news-foundation-lawsuit-discuss-lori-lightfoot-chicago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Daily Caller News Foundation Reporter Discusses His Lawsuit Against Lori Lightfoot)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s high time Mayor Lightfoot answered directly for denying my interview request.
