The successor to Angela Merkel caveated by saying that it would be left to the German parliament to vote for such a measure.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI will vote for it,\u201d Scholz said, adding: \u201cMy suggestion is that the time by which everyone has been vaccinated is not too far away, so my suggestion: early February or early March,\u201d German newspaper <em>Bild<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bild.de\/politik\/inland\/politik\/corona-gipfel-olaf-scholz-wirbt-fuer-allgemeine-impfpflicht-werde-zustimmen-78398972.bild.html\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we need is a legislative procedure in which every member of parliament votes according to his conscience on a general vaccination obligation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The incoming chancellor cast blame on unvaccinated people for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/europe\/20211125-germany-introduces-mandatory-health-pass-amid-surge-in-covid-19-cases\"> recent surge<\/a> in coronavirus cases in Germany, saying: \u201cIt is the case that the fact that there are so many who have not been vaccinated is the reason why we have a problem today as a whole country.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.9775280898876\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Austria: Unvaccinated Could Face Prison as Country Locks Down and Govt Makes Vaccines COMPULSORY <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WMPcDzhJne\">https:\/\/t.co\/WMPcDzhJne<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1461728473160945669?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Scholz, the leader of the left-wing Social Democratic Party of Germany, refused to rule out wether those who refuse the jab would be punished under the mandate.<\/p>\n<p>In neighbouring Austria, where a general vaccine mandate was announced for February of next year, the government has stated it will fine people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilgiornale.it\/news\/mondo\/austria-obbligo-vaccinale-e-sanzioni-fino-7200-euro-1992860.html\">as much as \u20ac7,200<\/a> (\u00a36,136\/$8,142) for not taking the vaccine.
