Walmart announced Nov. 29 that its chief financial officer \u2013 not its CEO \u2013 would be departing in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ghislaine Maxwell, the ex-girlfriend and confidant of deceased convicted sex offender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/23\/nyregion\/jeffrey-epstein-suicide-death.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>, is currently on trial for allegedly trafficking underage girls for sex, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/11\/29\/nyregion\/ghislaine-maxwell-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>. Facebook users have since been claiming the CEOs of Twitter, Walmart and CNBC resigned on Nov. 29, the day her criminal trial started.<\/p>\n<p>It is true that Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/s22.q4cdn.com\/826641620\/files\/doc_news\/2021\/11\/11-29-21_TWTR_Announcement.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> in a press release Monday that Dorsey had decided to step down, with Chief Technology Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/about.twitter.com\/en\/who-we-are\/our-company#bio-parag-agrawal-modal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parag Agrawal<\/a> replacing him as CEO \u201ceffective immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, neither Walmart nor <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/our-story\/leadership\/executive-management\/doug-mcmillon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doug McMillon<\/a>, the company\u2019s CEO and president, <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/newsroom\/company-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> McMillon had resigned Nov. 29. He remains listed as holding those two positions <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/our-story\/leadership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Walmart\u2019s corporate website<\/a>, and a departure on his part from the CEO role is not mentioned in the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/104169\/000010416921000068\/wmt-20211126.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">most recent 8-K form<\/a> filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Instead, Walmart said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/newsroom\/2021\/11\/29\/walmart-announces-cfo-transition-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nov. 29 press release<\/a> that CFO Brett Biggs will \u201cbegin transitioning from the company during this upcoming year,\u201d remaining in the CFO role until a successor is named in 2022 and leaving the company on Jan. 31, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>CNBC\u2019s website does not include a CEO among the positions listed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/cnbc-leadership-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">its leadership team webpage<\/a>, but it does have a chairman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/06\/22\/mark-hoffman.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Hoffman<\/a>, who has held that position since 2015.
