In the original, no such artifact is visible.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image shared on Facebook shows a black-and-white photo of what appears to be an archaeological excavation site where several men are standing around a large rectangular stone object inscribed with markings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNovember 29, 1932, Iraq,\u201d reads the Nov. 28 post\u2019s caption. \u201cA group of English archaeologists discovered a complex set of solid granite structures, with intriguing highlights and cuneiform language.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2019\/11\/22\/fact-check-british-parliament-ban-lipstick-1770-witchcraft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: No, British Parliament Didn\u2019t Ban Lipstick In 1770 For Fear It Had \u2018The Power To Seduce Men Into Marriage\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the image does not depict a real historical event in Iraq. It was first shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/COVbpOvjfS9\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> in May as a work of art by Italian artist Andrea Bonazzi, whose first initial and last name appear in the lower right corner of his Instagram post and the image shared on Facebook. Similar content can be seen on the artist\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/web.tiscalinet.it\/sculptus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/in.tenebris.sculptus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> account.<\/p>\n<p>Bonazzi explained in an email to Check Your Fact that he created the piece of artwork by photoshopping the rectangular stone object into a real historical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GarstangMuseum\/photos\/this-image-taken-in-1910-shows-the-main-altar-in-the-temple-of-amun-at-mero%C3%AB-aft\/4137885752920011\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">photo<\/a>. He said the stone object is actually a <a href=\"https:\/\/in-tenebris-scriptus.blogspot.com\/2015\/01\/unclassified-find-leng-1925.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sculpture<\/a> he created that can be found on his <a href=\"https:\/\/in-tenebris-scriptus.blogspot.com\/2015\/01\/unclassified-find-leng-1925.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, this is one of my artworks, a Photoshop composition made with one of my own sculptures placed in a historical but modified background,\u201d said Bonazzi. \u201cI make sculptures and illustrations largely based on Horror, Fantasy and Weird fiction, especially inspired by the works of H.P.
