The poll was executed before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/africa\/2021\/11\/29\/botswana-blames-foreign-diplomats-spreading-omicron-coronavirus-variant\/\">omicron variant<\/a> was publicly announced.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/70\/wr\/mm7014e1.htm\">caused roughly 375,000 deaths<\/a> in 2020, and more than 770,000 deaths total in the United States, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2021\/us\/covid-cases.html\">data from the <em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>. As worry over coronavirus has declined, concerns about healthcare access and cost have increased to 11 percent and 9 percent. Neither have reached pre-pandemic levels of concern.<\/p>\n<p>Concern over heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in the U.S.,&nbsp; remained at one percent in 2018, 2020, and 2021. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly 659,000 people in the U.S. die from heart disease each year \u2014 one out of every 4 deaths.<\/p>\n<p>Concern about cancer has decreased, going from 10 percent in 2018, to 4 percent in 2020, and finally to 3 percent in 2021, according to the report.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/cancer\/dcpc\/research\/update-on-cancer-deaths\/index.htm\">599,601 cancer deaths in 2019<\/a>. The National Cancer Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.gov\/about-cancer\/understanding\/statistics\">estimated<\/a> that more than 1.8 million new cases of cancer would be diagnosed in 2020 and more than 600,000 would die from the disease. (Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">With vaccines available, immunization is now cited by 6 percent of U.S. adults as the \u201cmost urgent health problem\u201d above both heart disease and cancer. Not surprisingly, \u201cit is a bipartisan concern\u201d mentioned by 7 percent of Republicans and 6 percent of Democrats, \u201cbut for different reasons.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u201c<\/span><span>Most Republicans citing vaccinations reference vaccine mandates and \u201cforcing people to take the vaccination,\u201d while Democrats are concerned about vaccine hesitancy and the failure to get everyone vaccinated,\u201d according to the poll.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The decline in coronavirus being seen as a top concern is being seen equally among all age groups, men, and women, and has also declines among all major political groups. This was in the final months of Republican <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/203198\/presidential-approval-ratings-donald-trump.aspx\"><span>Donald Trump\u2019s presidency<\/span><\/a><span> and before any coronavirus vaccines had been approved for public use. At the same time, a bare majority of Republicans (56%) saw the virus as the leading health problem,\u201d the report states. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Today, with Democratic <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/329384\/presidential-approval-ratings-joe-biden.aspx\"><span>President Joe Biden<\/span><\/a><span> in office and much of the country vaccinated, Democrats\u2019 and independents\u2019 concern has fallen more than 20 percentage points, to 57% and 42%, respectively.
