(KENZO TRIBOUILLARD\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/new-coronavirus-variant-omicron-keeps-spreading-australia-detects-cases-2021-11-28\/\">noted<\/a> it will take weeks before enough data is collected to make further determinations about the variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary data suggests that there are increasing rates of hospitalization in South Africa, but this may be due to increasing overall numbers of people becoming infected, rather than a result of specific infection,\u201d W.H.O. stated.<\/p>\n<p>As health experts study the new variant, many nations have issued travel bans on South African nations. President Biden did so Friday, though he was roundly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/26\/joe-biden-slammed-for-calling-trumps-travel-restrictions-racist-xenophobic-after-enacting-his-own\/\">accused<\/a> of implementing a travel ban that he opposed as&nbsp;racist and xenophobic during the 2020 election season with former President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The omicron variant has yet to be detected in the United States, but it has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/29\/omicron-variant-reaches-north-america-as-global-risk-remains-very-high\/\">identified<\/a>&nbsp;in Canada.
