The woman had checked into the room on November 26 along with her two children. The woman\u2019s children were inside of the hotel room along with their mother when she started the blaze, according to the Queensland Police Service.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The fire \u201cdestroyed the room and damaged two floors\u201d according to Seven News. The Pacific Hotel\u2019s operators were forced to conduct an emergency evacuation of the building in response to the blaze. All 163 guests staying at the facility at the time plus the building\u2019s staff successfully <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/7NEWSBrisbane\/videos\/876823369863014\/\">evacuated<\/a> and no injuries were reported, Queensland Police Acting Chief superintendent Chris Hodgman said on November 28.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did have some issues with that female occupant that we were managing,\u201d&nbsp;Hodgman said of the alleged arsonist on Sunday, though he did not provide further details.<\/p>\n<p>Hodgman added that the Pacific Hotel\u2019s evacuees \u201cwere initially held at another location but have since been relocated.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cEarlier, Queensland acting Chief Health Officer Peter Aitken said they were examining options about where to send the quarantine guests,\u201d the Australian Broadcasting Corporation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2021-11-28\/qld-cairns-quarantine-hotel-blaze-prompts-emergency-declaration\/100656756\">noted<\/a> on November 27.<\/p>\n<p>Aitken said the possibilities included moving the guests to another state-run quarantine hotel in Cairns \u201cor transferring them to Brisbane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Quarantine hotel set alight in Cairns in protest of isolation mandates | 7NEWS\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DZhH-WfvNU0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Brisbane is the capital of Australia\u2019s Queensland state and is located roughly 1,045 miles south of Cairns.<\/p>\n<p>Queensland health officials have taken over the Pacific Hotel in recent weeks for use as a coronavirus quarantine facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who arrives in Queensland from another state or overseas must quarantine for 14 days under the state\u2019s pandemic borer restrictions,\u201d the <em>New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/28\/world\/australia\/queensland-hotel-fire.html\">reported<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who have a house that fits government criteria around ventilation may undergo home quarantine, but those who do not must quarantine in a designated hotel and foot the bill themselves,\u201d according to the newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old woman who allegedly started a fire at the quarantine hotel in Cairns on Sunday had recently arrived in Queensland from the southern Australian state of Victoria, according to Seven News.
