Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell came out against the bill Monday afternoon over what he alleged was a flawed amendment process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Democratic leader \u2026 now wants to block the Senate from a real debate on a real amendment process,\u201d McConnell said on the floor, invoking Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. \u201cSo, if [Schumer] insists on forcing a cloture vote later today, I\u2019ll oppose cutting off these debates prematurely when they have really just begun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell was echoed by Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter how important [the National Defense Authorization Act] is, that doesn\u2019t mean that we\u2019ll accept the fact that Senator Schumer wants to jam it through the Senate without adequate consideration,\u201d Inhofe said on the floor. \u201cLet me be clear, Senator Schumer has put us in this position today.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/23\/iron-dome-funding-passes-house-representatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Israel\u2019s Iron Dome Funding Sails Through The House After Being Omitted From NDAA)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7328578\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"34\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7328578\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sens. Jack Reed, the committee\u2019s chair, agreed to vote on a package of amendments before Thanksgiving that included a vote on stripping language that would <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/19\/senate-jack-reed-draft-all-americans-register\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">require women to register<\/a> for the Selective Service and a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/17\/house-repeal-2002-aumf-expanded-presidential-war-powers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vote to repeal<\/a> the 2002 Iraq authorized use of military force, but Republicans objected to that as well since several of their amendments were omitted. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/20\/mike-lee-bernie-sanders-chris-murphy-congress-war-powers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Bipartisan Trio Joins Forces In An Attempt To Claw Back War Powers From President)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reed criticized the GOP-led effort on the Senate floor, saying that some of the amendments Republicans were pushing for were unrelated to the bill, which has passed every year for six decades and which <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/23\/national-defense-authorization-passes-house-24-billion-increase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sailed through the House<\/a> with bipartisan support in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we should move forward for the benefit of the men and women of the armed services,\u201d Reed said. \u201cWe\u2019re not talking about 100 amendments that we have to consider.
