Ron DeSantis (R) reiterated that he will not institute any coronavirus restrictions in the Sunshine State based on media buzz over the newly-discovered Omicron variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not in Florida going to allow any media-driven hysteria to do anything to infringe people\u2019s individual freedoms when it comes to any types of COVID variants,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/state\/gov-ron-desantis-speaks-in-orlando\">said<\/a> during a press conference on his plans to seek additional funds for law enforcement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn Florida, we will not let (the federal government) lock you down. We will not let them take your jobs. We will not let them harm your businesses. We will not let them close your schools,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>DeSantis\u2019 remarks come after the United States banned&nbsp;entry to most travelers from eight African countries following the discovery of the Omicron variant in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Monday, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/29\/joe-biden-lockdowns-fight-omicron-variant-off-the-table-for-now\/\">stated<\/a> that lockdowns were off the table \u201cfor now\u201d as researchers race to confirm whether the variant is resistant to current coronavirus vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf people are vaccinated and wear their masks, there\u2019s no need for the lockdown,\u201d the president added, before urging Americans to receive the booster shot.&nbsp;\u201cDr. Fauci believes that the current vaccines provide at least some protection against the new variant and the booster strengthen [sic] that protection significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
