Prosecutors now want the case to rise to the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Entertainment\/wireStory\/bill-cosby-prosecutors-case-us-high-court-81453218\">ABC News<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review the ruling that overturned Bill Cosby\u2019s conviction, arguing in a petition Monday that a decision announced in a press release does not give a defendant lifetime immunity.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said the ruling could set a dangerous precedent if convictions are overturned over dubious closed-door deals. They have also complained that the chief judge of the state\u2019s high court appeared to misstate key facts of the case when he discussed the court ruling that overturned Cosby\u2019s conviction in a television interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision as it stands will have far-reaching negative consequences beyond Montgomery County and Pennsylvania. The U.S. Supreme Court can right what we believe is a grievous wrong,\u201d Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele wrote in the petition.<\/p>\n<p>ABC noted that the Supreme Court accepts less than 1% of petitions; however, the Cosby case is extraordinarily high-profile and the first to emerge during the #MeToo movement.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2019 interview, Cosby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bill-cosby-breaks-silence-gives-first-prison-interview-no-remorse\">said<\/a> that he has no \u201cremorse\u201d for his actions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have eight years and nine months left,\u201d Cosby told National Newspaper Publishers Association\u2019s BlackPressUSA.com. \u201cWhen I come up for parole, they\u2019re not going to hear me say that I have remorse. I was there. I don\u2019t care what group of people come along and talk about this when they weren\u2019t there. They don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all a set up. That whole jury thing. They were imposters,\u201d he argued, pointing to \u201cthe woman who blew the whistle\u201d \u2014 the potential juror who said she overheard another juror state before the trial began that Cosby is guilty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen she went in and came out smiling, it\u2019s something attorneys will tell you is called a payoff,\u201d Cosby continued. \u201cI know what they\u2019ve done to my people. But my people are going to view me and say, \u2018that boy looks good. That boy is strong.\u2019 I have too many heroes that I\u2019ve sat with. Too many heroes whom I listened to like John Henrik Clarke, Kenneth Clark, and Dorothy Height. Those people are very strong, and they saw the rejection of their people. This is political. I can see the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following Cosby\u2019s release, actress and Cosby co-star Phylicia Rashad faced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/finally-a-terrible-wrong-is-being-righted-actress-phylicia-rashad-in-hot-water-after-celebrating-bill-cosby-release\">backlash<\/a> for tweeting, \u201cFINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted \u2014 a miscarriage of justice is corrected!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rashad later deleted the tweet and scaled-down her support with another post. \u201cI fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects.
