Aaron Coleman (D) faces calls for his resignation after he was reportedly arrested for drunk driving early Saturday morning, marking his second arrest in a month.<\/p>\n<p>A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/crime-arrests-kansas-city-kansas-lawrence-c876d564826fdfeebc29b002a3298492\">arrested<\/a> Coleman on Interstate 70 near Lawrence around 1:00 a.m., the Associated Press (AP) reported. The young lawmaker was taken into Douglas County Jail, where he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/news\/kansas-house-rep-aaron-coleman-arrested-in-douglas-county-on-suspicion-of-dui\/article_8724d276-50a4-11ec-9005-77e6cfe47f78.html\">released<\/a> on a $250 bond, according to KCTV 5.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Coleman did not immediately respond to AP phone calls or email seeking comment Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of Saturday\u2019s arrest, the 21-year-old was out on bond from a previous domestic battery arrest that occurred October 30. The AP reported, \u201cHe allegedly pushed, hit and spit on his 18-year-old brother in a fight that erupted because the brother was going to get baptized, according to court documents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Kansas lawmaker faces calls of resignation from the state\u2019s Democrat leadership following his latest episode.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In a release <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KSHouseDems\/status\/1465135933481795587\">tweeted<\/a> by the Kansas House Democrats, House Democratic Leader Tom Sawyer stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><span>I want to reiterate what I have said in the past: It is clear Representative Coleman is in dire need of help. For the sake of the state of Kansas, his constituents, and himself, he should resign and concentrate on getting the help he badly needs. Laura Kelly (D) weighed in on the arrest stating, \u201cHe is not fit to serve in the Kansas House of Representatives\u201d and \u201chis continued presence in the Legislature is a disservice to his constituents,\u201d according to KCTV 5.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe should resign immediately and seek the treatment that he needs. If he does not resign, the Legislature should use its process to remove him from office,\u201d the governor added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.2910447761194\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kansas Gov. Aaron Coleman after the 21-year-old democrat was arrested for the second time in less than a month:  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/317fypdPvD\">https:\/\/t.co\/317fypdPvD<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EVXEJ7JTEc\">pic.twitter.com\/EVXEJ7JTEc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 KMBC (@kmbc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kmbc\/status\/1465346090346160139?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The representative\u2019s dicey past extends back to before he took elected office.<\/p>\n<p>In August of 2020, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/08\/20\/teenage-kansas-democrat-who-admitted-to-revenge-porn-wins-primary\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"23.387634936212\">\n<p>Coleman has&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/ac948dae17c3dbc36ffe62246925c4f3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">admitted<\/a>&nbsp;to disturbing behavior when he was younger. By his own account he harassed girls online, including telling a girl she was fat and should kill herself. He also told then 13-year-old Kati Hampton that he would circulate a nude photograph of her unless she sent him more of the same. When he refused, he did as threatened.<\/p>\n<p>Hampton&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/opinion\/editorials\/article244930027.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">offered<\/a>&nbsp;her story to the&nbsp;<em>Kansas City Star<\/em>, saying,&nbsp;\u201cHe got one of my nudes and blackmailed me with it and told me if I didn\u2019t send him more he would [send] it to all of my friends and family,\u201d she&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/opinion\/editorials\/article244930027.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Kansas City Star<\/em>. \u201cAnd when I didn\u2019t send him more, he sent it to everyone I knew. I don\u2019t know how he got the picture. All I know is he\u2019s an awful person and he should not be allowed to run for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coleman offered an apology for the behavior,&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/opinion\/editorials\/article244930027.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">telling<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Star<\/em>&nbsp;editorial board he \u201cmade serious mistakes in middle school and I deeply regret and apologize for them.\u201d Coleman said he has \u201cgrown up a great deal since then.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Coleman <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Kansas_House_of_Representatives_District_37\">represents<\/a>&nbsp;21,850 constituents in Kansas\u2019s 37th District and <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Aaron_Coleman\">assumed<\/a> office on January 11, 2021, according to Ballotpedia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty-one-year-old Kansas House Rep.
