Democrats\u2019 strategy may be to introduce a stopgap funding bill potentially on Wednesday. The stopgap funding would need approval from Senate Republicans and Sen. How the Democrats may raise the debt ceiling is still unknown. Senate Democrats seem opposed to raising it through the reconciliation package and the NDAA.<\/p>\n<p>In October, McConnell promised not to help the Democrats raise the debt ceiling over&nbsp;Majority Leader Chuck Schumer\u2019s (D-NY) \u201cchildish behavior\u201d on the Senate floor. Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/09\/mitch-mcconnell-gives-joe-biden-debt-limit-threat-after-chuck-schumers-childish-behavior-republicans-will-not-help-you-in-future-deal\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"18.590517241379\">\n<p>McConnell&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.republicanleader.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Biden%20Letter%2010.8.2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;to Biden that Schumer \u201cpoisoned the well\u201d in a Thursday rant on the Senate floor by suggesting \u201cRepublicans played a risky and partisan game\u201d with the debt ceiling. \u201cAnd I am glad their brinkmanship didn\u2019t work,\u201d Schumer said Thursday, not acknowledging that McConnell helped Schumer raise the debt ceiling with 11 votes.<\/p>\n<p>After Schumer\u2019s speech, Republicans and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV)&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10071021\/Senate-votes-PASS-bill-temporarily-lift-debt-limit-480b.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">confronted<\/a>&nbsp;Schumer about the tirade. Manchin reportedly told Schumer his speech was \u201cfucking stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the offensive, partisan speech, McConnell told the White House he will not be a part of any additional \u201cassistance\u201d in increasing the debt limit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The NDAA is also a major piece of legislation requiring Senate approval. Republicans and Democrats were not able to agree on the measure before Thanksgiving, so debate will continue into December. The measures under consideration <a href=\"https:\/\/email.punchbowl.news\/t\/ViewEmail\/t\/41CA6F016C1E77202540EF23F30FEDED\/5BB44F6491B6BADCDCC9454293137CA2\">are<\/a> \u201crepealing the 1991 and 2002 Iraq AUMFs, women in the draft, China,\u201d Afghanistan, and other measures impacting the military-industrial complex.<\/p>\n<p>The deliberation over the critical articles of legislation may delay President Biden\u2019s massive tax and spend reconciliation package until 2022. After the House passed its version of the reconciliation package in mid-November, the Senate must weigh the House\u2019s version.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen.
