It\u2019s the week where houses are divided, old hostilities are renewed, and when absolutely anything can happen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the history of the College Football Playoff, it\u2019s hard to remember a year in which the best four teams in the country were so difficult to pinpoint, making this year\u2019s rivalry games incredibly meaningful.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coming into week 13, Ohio State easily looked to be at the very least the second best team in the county, with some arguing that the Buckeyes would give No. 1 Georgia a run for their money. Alabama certainly hasn\u2019t looked dominant as of late, but they haven\u2019t lost since College Station in October, and it\u2019s nearly impossible to ever count out Nick Saban and his five star-laden roster.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These were the prevailing thoughts, at least. So, let\u2019s see what happened in week 13 and if anything occured to change our minds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jim Harbaugh finally breaks through against Ohio State<\/p>\n<p>In six years and five games against hated rival Ohio State, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh had yet to accomplish what is required of every Michigan head coach \u2014 beat Ohio State.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The monkey is officially off of his back.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a thoroughly dominant performance, Michigan beat Ohio State 42-27 in Ann Arbor, allowing Michigan fans to celebrate for the first time in nine years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is everything I\u2019ve dreamed of,\u201d Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/32728948\/michigan-wolverines-roll-rival-ohio-state-buckeyes-secure-spot-big-ten-title-game\">said<\/a> in the postgame TV interview. \u201cThis is everything that any guy who\u2019s committed to Michigan over the last five years \u2014 this is why they come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michigan running back Hassan Haskins rushed for 169 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, frustrating an Ohio State defense that was only allowing 103.5 yards on the ground coming into \u201cThe Game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you work this game 365 days out of the year and you come up short, it\u2019s a failure,\u201d Ohio State head coach Ryan Day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/college\/2021\/11\/27\/ryan-day-on-ohio-state-loss-to-michigan-its-a-failure\">said<\/a>. \u201cIt hurts, it hurts a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harbaugh took a shot at Day following his team\u2019s win, adding some serious sizzle to an already intense rivalry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s definitely stuff people said that spurred us on,\u201d Harbaugh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dispatch.com\/story\/sports\/2021\/11\/27\/michigan-football-jim-harbaugh-jabs-ohio-states-ryan-day-after-upset-win\/8780272002\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cSometimes people that are standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michigan moves on to play Iowa in the BIG Ten Championship Game, and sit in the driver\u2019s seat to represent the conference in the College Football Playoff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Alabama comes back to win four-overtime Iron Bowl classic<\/p>\n<p>The true beauty of rivalry week is the knowledge that you can throw records out the window. Auburn entered the Iron Bowl losers of three straight in head coach Bryan Harsin\u2019s first year at the helm, and without starting quarterback Bo Nix. But this is the Iron Bowl, and Auburn gave Alabama all they could handle on The Plains.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ludicrous new overtime rules decided the game, with Alabama converting on their two-point attempt in the fourth overtime, and escaping Auburn with a 24-22 win.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Crimson Tide made a ton of mistakes \u2014 including a botched fourth quarter field goal attempt and 11 penalties for 129 yards \u2014 but Heisman contender Bryce Young made the big plays when Alabama needed it most, including a 28-yard touchdown pass to Ja\u2019Corey Brooks with 0:24 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game into OT.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t put it into words,\u201d Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in his postgame TV interview. \u201cFor the guys to keep fighting like they did, and have a 90-something yard drive to send it into overtime \u2026 I couldn\u2019t be prouder of them. It was unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Auburn defense \u2014 and coordinator Derek Mason \u2014 deserve a ton of credit, holding Alabama\u2019s offense to just 71 yards on the ground, but an injury to starting quarterback TJ Finley hamstrung the Tigers offense, setting up a massive matchup in next Saturday\u2019s SEC Championship between Alabama and No. 1 Georgia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bedlam in Stillwater Goes to&nbsp;Oklahoma State<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been the defense that Oklahoma State leaned on all year long to qualify for the Big 12 Championship Game. And it was the defense that got the FINAL stop that gave OSU their first win against Oklahoma since 2014.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys\u2019 defense sacked sensational freshman quarterback Caleb Williams on fourth-and-10 with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter, winning the 2021 Bedlam Series 37-33.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told them we couldn\u2019t be more proud of them for what they\u2019ve accomplished,\u201d Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/recap?gameId=401287951\">said<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s the good news. Next thing is, we need them all back here tomorrow afternoon.
