He went on to apparently falsely claim that he and the government never referred to schools as being a safe environment from the Chinese coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve never said that schools are a safe environment,\u201d Dr Glynn declared in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newstalk.com\/news\/schools-not-as-safe-from-covid-19-as-they-were-earlier-in-the-year-deputy-cmo-1281561\">interview<\/a> with radio station&nbsp;Newstalk, claiming: \u201cWe\u2019ve said they\u2019re a lower risk environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, video evidence soon emerged pointing to the contrary. In an interview with the Irish Second Level Student\u2019s Union <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/uSSX0_oZ-9E?t=220\">posted<\/a> on the official Youtube channel of the Irish Department of Education, the Deputy CMO refers to schools as being \u201csafe\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ve seen from September to date is that in general, schools have been what we regard as a safe environment.\u201d Dr Glynn stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgain, that doesn\u2019t mean there won\u2019t be cases or clusters but it means that all of the protective measures in place\u2026 have created an environment that, by and large, has been safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7358490566038\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">UK School Asks Pupils to Wear \u2018Yellow Badge\u2019 to Show They Are Mask-Exempt <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gWB4mmypeU\">https:\/\/t.co\/gWB4mmypeU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1463869581378961412?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Many more examples of government officials, both elected and otherwise, describing schools as \u201csafe environments\u201d have been cited, with the <em>Irish Independent<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.ie\/irish-news\/health\/ten-examples-of-government-figures-and-health-officials-saying-schools-are-safe-after-deputy-cmo-said-weve-never-said-schools-are-a-safe-environment-41085920.html\">compiling<\/a> a list of examples.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights from the list include Ireland\u2019s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, stating in a letter in January that schools are \u201csafe environments,&nbsp;with very little evidence of transmission within schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Prime Minister Mich\u00e9al Martin pronounced: \u201cAll public health analysis is showing that schools are safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Irish government ministers have even used the fact that senior Irish medical officials have repeatedly called schools safe environments to justify decisions surrounding education policy during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>In October of 2020, for example, Irish Minister for Education Norma Foley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/coronavirus-in-ireland-schools-are-safe-and-can-stay-open-norma-foley-confirms-md5fsd66c\">stated<\/a> that schools could stay open as they were not significantly contributing to the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything that we know to date and everything that has been confirmed to us again today in terms of public health is telling us that our schools can remain open and that they are essentially safe spaces for the entire school community,\u201d Minister Foley said.<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cPublic health has confirmed that as we stand it is their adjudication that schools are safe places for students to attend, and indeed I should also say, for the entire school community.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Republic of Ireland, as with many countries in Europe, has seen increasingly strict lockdown restrictions being imposed on its people as of late.<\/p>\n<p>Unvaccinated individuals who cannot show proof of recovery from the Chinese coronavirus within the past six months are currently banned from eating and drinking indoors at bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Those without COVID passes are also barred from cinemas, theatres, nightclubs, and from visiting nursing homes.
