Al Sharpton on verdict in Ahmaud Arbery\u2019s murder: \u2018Let the word go forth all over the world, that a jury of 11 whites and one Black in the Deep South stood up in the courtroom and said that Black lives do matter\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FFZPZb95sp\">pic.twitter.com\/FFZPZb95sp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NowThis (@nowthisnews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nowthisnews\/status\/1463589109314822158?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sharpton made his comments on the steps of the Glynn County courthouse alongside prominent civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump and the parents of Ahmaud Arbery.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmaud Arbery was fatally shot last year in Georgia after three men claimed he had been involved in a series of local burglaries.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>On Wednesday, Gregory McMichael, his son Travis McMichael, and William \u201cRoddie\u201d Bryan Jr. were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/jury-in-ahmaud-arbery-death-set-for-2nd-day-of-deliberations\/\">convicted<\/a>&nbsp;on felony murder charges after roughly ten hours of jury deliberations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet it be clear that almost 10 years after Trayvon [Martin], God used Wanda and Marcus\u2019s son, to prove that if we kept marching, and kept fighting, We would make you hear us,\u201d Sharpton continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got a lot more battles to fight, but this was an important battle today. This was proven that our children know their value,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s why those people that march, I\u2019m talking about the people here, that was here when nobody else was here, they stood up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Sharpton is known for his racially divisive language, the Arbery family has stayed away from bringing politics into this case.
