The civil lawsuit was dismissed last year.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>&nbsp;Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The criminal trial of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/07\/02\/europe\/ghislaine-maxwell-profile-epstein-intl-gbr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maxwell<\/a>, the ex-girlfriend and confidant of deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, is scheduled to start Nov. 29, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/16\/1056239133\/ghislaine-maxwell-jury-selection-sex-trafficking-trial-jeffrey-epstein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NPR<\/a> reported. She has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/press-release\/file\/1291491\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">charged<\/a> with grooming underaged girls for sex, to which she has pleaded not guilty, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10102284621153422&amp;set=a.584069518572&amp;type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">features<\/a> what appears to be a court document, purports to contain a recently-released list of dozens of alleged \u201cco-conspirators\u201d from her criminal case, including Beyonce, ViacomCBS and Sony Entertainment. The image <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shane_mcminn\/status\/1462485819415937025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has also been shared<\/a> on Twitter with a similar claim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe filing documents for the Ghislaine Maxwell trial have been released,\u201d reads the Facebook post. \u201cHefty list of Celebrities and Big Corporations here. Don\u2019t let the media distract you from this case.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/08\/20\/fact-check-don-lemon-jeffrey-epstein-chris-cuomo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Photo Show Don Lemon With Jeffrey Epstein?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But, contrary to what social media users are alleging, the document is not part of Maxwell\u2019s criminal case. It originates from a civil lawsuit, titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ia801807.us.archive.org\/3\/items\/gov.uscourts.nysd.543369\/gov.uscourts.nysd.543369.2.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Latham et al v. The 1953 Trust et al<\/a>,\u201d against Epstein\u2019s estate <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/08\/19\/jeffrey-epstein-signed-will-two-days-before-suicide\/?mod=mktw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 1953 Trust<\/a>, Maxwell and others. That civil lawsuit, filed in August 2020, made allegations of the defendants being involved in human trafficking, abuse and financial exploitation of the plaintiff for years. In September 2020, the case was dismissed by a U.S. District judge as \u201cfrivolous under 28 U.S.C. \u00a7 1915(e)(2)(B)(i),\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/case\/latham-v-1953-tr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">court document<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dockets.justia.com\/docket\/new-york\/nysdce\/1:2020cv07102\/543369\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">records<\/a> on the legal information database Justia.<\/p>\n<p>The separate, since-dismissed civil lawsuit from which the document stems has a different case number than Maxwell\u2019s criminal case. The case number of the civil suit is \u201c1:20-cv-07102-UA,\u201d whereas the criminal case\u2019s number is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/17318376\/united-states-v-maxwell\/?order_by=desc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1:20-cr-00330-AJN<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/16\/nyregion\/ghislaine-maxwell-jeffrey-epstein-trial.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a> reported Nov. 16 that the prosecutors for Maxwell\u2019s federal sex-trafficking trial said they would argue there were three co-conspirators \u2013 Epstein and two other unnamed individuals. However, Maxwell\u2019s attorneys said the two people are not available for testifying, according to the outlet.
